I did say " appropriate" roles; trenches and fox holes are not those places, although they have found women make better fighter pilots than men, in most instances, oddly enough. Women also make good mechanics, because they can get into tighter spaces more easily to work on complex machinery. They can also "free up" men from mudane duties that allows them to assume combat roles while women attend to the duties "behind the lines", so to speak. However, I fully agree women do not belong in combat units. The trans folks do not belong in the military at all, especially once they start the transition! If they want to serve they need to look up Vista or Peace Corps! They just burden the rest of the forces physically and psychologically! Most only join to get the expensive medical procedures paid for, to start, and taxpayers should NOT be on the hook for that!
The Navy got in a few during Iraq 1 and 2. I can't say if the Air Force did too, or not. However, "dog fights" have changed a good bit, even since Vietnam days. Women are better at "multitasking" a necessity caused by child rearing while housekeeping. They also fit those cockpits a lot better. That means the have more wiggle room inside that tiny space to react to changing combat conditions, and can keep up with their planes better while doing so. It actually works better when your elbows and knees don't keep fighting for maneuvering room. Actual "dog fights" are a thing of the past. Aerial combat is getting more like the old "battle wagon" days when ships stood 20 miles apart and lobbed shells at each other, with modern air to air missiles. Keep in mind that old adage: "The female is always deadlier!" Ask any 20 lb tom cat who just got whooped by a 6 lb queen, who was NOT "in the mood"! Or any lion, in a pride, who brings home the bacon in that family...
and, the girl in the photo is completely relaxed laying back into the sailors arms, hand loose by her side. There is NO resistance, but endearing compliance.
