Thank god theres a man prepared to stand up against islamisAtion of the west. Our woke pm cant even bring himself to proscribe the biggest terrorist funding government in the world , even denying USA the use of our military bases. Hepreferred instead to host a Ramadan gathering in Westminster hall and call the 6% uk muslim population the face of modern Britain. We need a Trump before Britain joins the list of once Great nations.

If you haven't learned by now that these regime-change wars are the principal drivers of Muslim immigration into the west, I don't know if you ever will. This attack on Iran, and the total destabilisation of West Asia that it will lead to, will drive more waves of refugees onto your shores than you can possibly imagine. Invade the world, invite the world.

By the way, it's not Iran that is the largest funder of terrorism in the world. As Larry Johnson points out (https://sonar21.com/the-big-lie-about-irans-support-for-terrorism/), roughly 90% of terrorist attacks are carried out by Sunni extremist groups including Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Al Qaeda spin-off led by the head-chopping terrorist Abu Mohammad al-Jolani whom Donald Trump welcomed into the White House last November. Trump sure does love Muslim terrorists, as long as they're helping to achieve the policy objectives of the ruling cabal.

I guess your expectation Robyn here is that the majority of Americans know the difference between north and south.. This is not the case.. (from Johannesburg)

The assault of Britain's little girls by Moose Limb savages is disgusting. Even more disgusting is the British government's apparent support of those vile acts.

Starmer and his band of incompetents is scared witless of antagonizing the excitable mohammedans, who are capable of inflicting far more damage than the native population. One of their weapons is imposing fear by intimidation, a typical bullying tactic.

I had an opportunity today to catch up with some other commentary and interviews on the Iran War. The war is ENORMOUSLY unpopular in America. Only 1 American in 4 supports initiating this action. In fact, the % given is 21% support Trump's action.

Again, let me reiterate. This war is EXTREMELY UNPOPULAR among Americans. They see no reason for the war.

The MAGA press can show displaced Persians dancing in the streets and congratulating Trump. They comprise an extremely infinitesimally small fraction of the American population let alone world population.

Moreover, analyses are beginning to swell showing the actual terrain and size of Iran. The country is riddled with mountainous terrain. We'll have to see how the air campaign develops. I thought another Gaza might be underway, but reports indicate that Iran hasn't begun using any of their major arsenal at this point.

To close with a joke, Newsom offers himself today as a peace candidate. I think all those who voted for Trump because he categorically stated that he would not only NOT start wars but end them realize how they were duped and made a bunch of chumps.

The unfortunate reality in this country, as John said, is the average American has absolutely no choice in candidates nor vote in their country's direction. The average American doesn't give a damn about Bibi's dream of destroying Iran. Let him recall his son from his luxurious Miami living and have him fight in a ground war to dismantle Iran.

I have no problem with Moose Limb Moolahs and their henchmen being vaporized so they can meet their 72 raisins. This is the beginning of the end of a 47 year old war; Iran against the US. We've been at war since 1979 and President Trump is the first US President to try and end it. Kudos to President Trump, Sec War Hegseth and the American military.

As we all know, only “israel”(wasn’t even their first choice for a name in 1948) has the power to declare war on behalf of the United States of Israel….we’re all just slaves including the “commander in chief”.

The world is a stage and everything in DC is just theatre to deceive the masses from the truth.

So True John - Thank you! Our Congress has been a cesspit of partisan politics, graft, selfishness and grandstanding with many of them Bribed and maybe Blackmailed.

It seems to me Trump is more like Crassus.

Not claiming an attack on Iran was the best thing to do (I don't personally know but check out Marco Rubios comments as of 2015 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfCssrZi1pA)

In reality Trump has the authority to utilize the military for 60 days - has nothing to do with eviscerating congress. John, I love your writing and regularly agree with your viewpoints. But your disconnect with legal reality is not helpful in this case.

The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30-day withdrawal period, without congressional authorization for use of military force (AUMF) or a declaration of war by the United States. The resolution was passed by two-thirds each of the House and Senate, overriding the veto of President Richard Nixon.

So your saying warn the enemy before we attack with endless debates , BS . Jefferson attempted to get the Islamist pirates to stop taking US ships and hostages , they didn't , they FAFO .. How many times does international shipping have to face illegal activities by the Iranian Navy . Israel our allies attacked Oct 7 by Hamas supported by Iran ! The same country that illegally attacked the US Embassy in 1979 and held US embassy personal for 444 days , with out retribution . All the while shaking their fist to kill Jew in Israel . Continued to have a nuclear bomb project even after it was destroyed by US and Israel . Now has a coalition of Kuwait, Jordan , Saudi Arabia , Qatar and others , its not a US , or Israeli operation , only ! What is the UN doing to see that Iran follows the agreements it made NOTHING ! What are all the other countries that get oil from that area doing for their own security of their oil supply , yea leave it to the US then piss on the American FLAG ! NZ a totally impenitent country with no DEFENSIVE aircraft and politicians like Don Brash on the executive board of a Chinese bank and Jacinda that allowed the CCP to buy land in NZ and signed the Belts and Roads while Luxon does NOTHING to stop communist expansion ! All the while the countries not supporting the US and the other countries in the coalition are having their names added to a list of nae do well failed governments like the UK that failed to allow B-2 Bombers to refuel ,, wish we had not helped them keep the Nazi's out ! We have a long memory and you will not be forgotten . Liz tell Yon I'm not forgetting his endless Zionist conspiracy BS .

Yes, but John appears to be having a melt-down.... maybe he needs to take a month totally away from social media, up in the mountains, or by the beach to recalibrate his angst and think things through again.......

It is not who they are afraid of it is what they are afraid of. What they fear is losing their comfortable lucrative positions by attracting any attention to themselves that might lead to negative publicity. The only power that congress still has is the power to rubber stamp whatever the executive decides - and that can hardly be called a power.

David Chere-Bolelwang's avatar

Nothing new I am afraid.. What Congressional authorization was given for the Ukraine US proxy war for instance? The US is just like all of us. Here in South Africa, there is a Constitution but everyday one runs the risk of getting murdered by ruthless criminals, something the Constitution was meant to prevent.. See? (from Johannesburg)

Wikipedia states: "The War Powers Resolution requires the president to notify Congress within 48 hours of committing armed forces to military action and forbids armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days, with a further 30-day withdrawal period, without congressional authorization for use of military force (AUMF) or a declaration of war by the United States. Thus, the air campaign over Iran is proper at present.

Perhaps you ought to spend less time on Roman history and more time on American history.

"Congress Has Castrated Itself, the Constitutional Republic Is Apparently Finished"

Because of undeclared war? Patrick Henry warned that undeclared wars would be the norm. He warned that a powerful president could simply provoke wars and then claim defense as justification for them. The constitution isn't the protection against it; it's the guarantee for it. It's a feature, not a bug. "I come to examine these features, sir, they appear to me horribly frightful.”

"The last time Congress adhered to its duty was in 1942."

How and when did that congressional "duty" happen? 80% of Americans were opposed to getting involved, so FDR simply provoked us into it. This is exactly what Patrick Henry warned us we would get if we ratified the constitution. And what's this idea that 1942 was the last time we had approval? Are you implying that congressional approval was the norm before then?

Look at what John Adams did to France in 1798. What about Jefferson's claim of self-defense against Tripoli that started the Barbary War? There are numerous other examples.

Constitutional Republic?

"But now, sir, the American spirit, assisted by the ropes and chains of consolidation, is about to convert this country into a powerful and mighty empire. If you make the citizens of this country agree to become the subjects of one great consolidated empire of America, your government will not have sufficient energy to keep them together. Such a government is incompatible with the genius of republicanism. There will be no checks, no real balances, in this government. What can avail your specious, imaginary balances, your rope-dancing, chain-rattling, ridiculous ideal checks and contrivances?"

"Some way or other we must be a great and mighty empire; we must have an army, and a navy, and a number of things. When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: liberty, sir, was then the primary object."

“My great objection to this Government is, that it does not leave us the means of defending our rights or of waging war. It will establish a standing army, that will execute the arbitrary will of the Executive.”

“A standing army we shall have; also, to execute the execrable commands of tyranny . . ."

My point is that it's fine to condemn this aggressive act of war, but let's not act like this is anything more than a continuation of the norm.

If Congress were not at least half filled with politicians who were literally insane (TDS) I would agree with your concern re the end of our republic. But in our current state, if Trump were to mount a defense against invading aliens, they would scream “noooo , the end of democracy”! And, “let them kill us willy nilly.” Half our ruling body literally prefers anything except protecting America citizens. THAT is the biggest threat to our republic.

And may I add that we got here by giving these representatives of OUR Republic too much power (along with too much access to fraud, waste, and abuse of OUR tax money.). I have the fix: separate spending from funding. Elected politicians can and should propose spending BUT ONLY citizen taxpayers should APPROVE FUNDING . Including the funding of a pop up war! This puts a hard stop to fraud and waste if given the help of DOGE. Every taxpayer must then assign their tax dollars for or NOT for each spending proposal every year after Doge’s accounting. Budgets then shrink or swell based on performance and the will of THOSE who actually fund the government. If everyone with skin in the game ie taxpayers did this, graft and unnecessary war would approach zero. Nothing focuses the mind, sharpening the senses more than having one’s own hard work stolen and misused. And nothing would do more to unite Democrats and Republicans than everyone getting the governance they want TO THE EXTENT THEY WERE WILLING TO PAY FOR IT. Note: non-contributing citizens and non-citizens ARE NOT allowed in this assignment. Why? Because they get their say when they vote for or lobby their representatives. But if they aren’t actually paying taxes for government services, then they shouldn’t get to fund the government! This is the step change needed in our constitution!

Trump has joined the strategists of the WORLD DICTATOR CLUB emulating in a *de novo american style* the leaders of Russia, China, North Korea, Argentina, Cuba, Venezuela, etc.etc. and even some of Iranian method of using national troops to stop protests.

How long will it be before the stupid fools in the Senate, and Congress realize We, the people of USA, no longer have government of the people, by the people, and for the people.

Therefore, an immediate New Amendment of the USA Constitution is necessary to check and limit the Executive Power of the President. It is not hard to see what type of Constitutionally footed ULTIMATE WATCHDOG AUTHORITY can be created to balance

Of course each and every State has the Right to propose Amendments of their State Constitutions to remove the subjugation clause to the USA Constitution.
