High Rates of Sexually Transmitted Disease in Transgender Individuals
Fantasy Choice of Gender and Partners Relates to Risk of Venereal Disease

The general public has been beleaguered with new terminology that has been promulgated in the last few years. “Nonbinary” is one term people use to describe genders in terms of a fantasy, that is one wishes not fall into one of two categories, male or female. One of the hard realities of transgenderism has been the high rates of sexually transmitted disease among those who have made a “gender journey.”
Tordoff, et al, described a 33% increased visit rate of transgender individuals at a Sexual Health Clinic in Seattle. Among those coming forward for screening, men who have attempted to change their gender to female (typically breast implants with or without hormones) had the highest prevalence of gonorrhea (10% pharyngeal, 14% rectal, 12% urogenital). These men typically have anal and oral sex with other men. There were similar rates for chlamydia and syphilis. Thus considering all three diseases together, transgender individuals are high risk for sexually transmitted disease. Adolescents and parents dealing with this disturbing lifestyle trend should be aware of these data.
