My sincere thanks to you sir for focusing on the most ignored aspect of the Covid nightmare - why. It is rare to read the thoughts others have trying to understand why this happened and for what reason. Now that we know all that we know about the virus, the jab and the insanity that surrounded it, it would seem that a criminal investigation should take place examining all the details, the people involved and their motivations the way any great crime would be investigated. Alas, I doubt that will happen because I believe the very people who perpetrated this are still in charge and will never allow such an investigation to happen. This itself puzzles me because why would they worry about an investigation ? For the past 20 - 30 years great crimes have been committed and nothing ever happens to prosecute and punish those responsible.
Yes. That is a good way of putting it. The vaccine came first not the so called virus. I recall thinking about 2 or three months in in early 20 that the only real thing about the whole madness was that vaccine and if you ever wanted to invent a story to con people into poisoning themselves this would be the way to go about it. None of us took it. I suspect now that far fewer actually took it than claimed they did. Was it only about money and power or was it something worse? How long before it happens again?
When I consider the people I personally know who believed the lies and for the most part still do, two major factors consistently appear: These people have deeply abiding trust in the main stream media and will believe literally everything they are told, and they also have utter trust in doctors and medical authorities including the CDC, NIH, WHO, and medical organizations such as the AMA, American Heart Association, American Pediatrics Association, etc. The only allowed experts. The medical/pharmacological/industrial complex has them all in their pocket. It's "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil." Add in a heavy daily dose of fear mongering, and these people are unlikely to escape their mental prison.
Yes. Some folks I know who fancy themselves as elites still don't realize how captive they are to 'the experts'. They trust them because they see themselves as experts in other domains, I think. Hitler. Stalin. Mao. All of the tyrants appointed themselves stewards, betters, the social and human engineers of their nations. They didn't think they were doing evil. Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc. didn't look into the mirror and smile approvingly at how evil they were, how high the pile of bones were they were responsible for. They convinced themselves they were performing a "greater good." And that they were highly ethical leaders in doing so. Var. "Utilitarian." Needing to "break a few eggs to make an omelet."
And the masses complied. Obeyed. Not because they were evil. But because they, through heavy propaganda and indoctrination believed a greater good was being achieved.
This includes newspapers, radio, book and university book publishers, magazines and of course Hollywood.
All media companies owned by 6 corporations that are pro war pro rich anti us.
Those folks that have been raised to obey authority are the ones that fall for this.
Those black sheep, like myself, who had to endure ridicule for my cynicism are having the last laugh.
We see through things others can’t.
Then there are the people that do not have a “base” -a set of ideals over the years they honed and know to be true. And everything that happens stands scrutiny. No amount of media BS well cause them to waiver.
Even though aborted human fetus material is used in the manufacture of the COVID shot, Pope Francis strongly promoted it (Vaccine makers are probably in the church's investment portfolio, which is secret). Up to that time, anti-abortion was the main unifying meme among Catholics. Also, many hospitals, where the COVID treatment protocol killed many patients, are owned by churches. Houston Methodist (Owned by the Methodist church), for example, was the first hospital in the U.S. to mandate COVID shots for all of its employees.
Caring and compassionate people are curious why people behave the way they do. We want to understand how and why people make choices that could be bad for them.
After 5 years of listening to these people who, I recognize as being frightened and manipulated into choosing ridiculous and life threatening decisions, I now hold them fully accountable.
I no longer look at them as victims of the cruel world, but as masters of their own deception. Many still refuse to connect the dots or admit in the slightest that they put themselves in harms way. The best explanation comes from Dietrich Bonhoeffer.
These people are stupid.
I love them, but they have little or no knowledge of themselves or why they make the decisions they do. I no longer care.
You cannot force conscious thinking on people. You can't even gently lead them to it. They live in a fantasy where all authority lives outside of themselves and they will bend to any will that tells them it's for the greater good.
The hardest role to play is ours. Watching our friends and loved ones succumb to illness and death knowing we have answers and we can help. To look beyond the veil into ones heart is more frightening to them than death itself.
Never saw the movie and I don't read fiction so haven't touched the book. until just now , I never knew the story behind the Shining. I only knew Jack Nicholson was the lead in it.
Wonderful essay and well written....couldn't agree more! Applause!!
I don’t read fiction either. I actually quit reading it about 25 years ago when life got very difficult. I found that the hard sciences like physics and math were calming. So I read them in great numbers. Somehow the effort to reason put anxiety and fear on hold. I just never went back after that. And along with my Amish neighbors , who like me don’t read fiction, the Covid fiasco was clear about 2 months in. They simply refused to participate. Ah the luxury of being separate from the maddening crowd.
I have an abnormal desire to keep ;earning new things , like how the world works....hahahaha! so read non-fiction. Regarding the Covid Theatrical Event I NEVER participated one iota. never wore mask, never became a white rat, etc.
I bought a lanyard online for $20 with plastic laminated HIPPA regs on the card, on the lanyard it boldly printed in red....exempt, exempt. I wore it and flashed the card. No one asked to read it and I found if I never opened my mouth, I could breeze through anywhere. Only time I was stopped was in a TJ Maxx of all places, he said it was the rule or law or something to where a mask. I said very confidently, I'm sorry I have severe allergies and am unable to wear a mask. He said OK. When I was about 20 feet away, I said out loud.....I'm allergic to Tyranny! I lived my life as if I was on a different level from the Covid circus.....I never let it touch me or effect me! I just refused to participate. Any store that wouldn't let me in, lost my business. The only way to hurt these corporations is in the wallet. Don't participate. You only win the game by not playing the game!
Thats why the increasingly terrible "education" (basically babysitting except many "students" never want to be in "school" again)
has such long lasting consequences. Despite paying more for education than any other country (similar arguments can also be made for "medical care" and national defense) we have the lowest educational results of any country. Something like 80% of high school "graduates" in the big "blue" cities can neither read nor write at approapriate grade levels. It is steadily getting worse. This leads to lives of crime and drug use. Its going to lead to collapse of the US, or at least it will be a factor. Government has only made it worse. The all powerful "teacher" unions (who singlehandedly stopped students returning to school during the covid lockdowns for purely selfish reasons) oppose 100% any substancial improvements like school vouchers and now even charter schools are 100% opposed. When you cannot read or write, you are to a great amount subject to TV as "education" and easily manipulated. Yet for all of this, "teacher" unions are all powerful still and I see no movement to change this.
That is why many parents decide to homeschool - because they care about their children's ability to think. And even many parents who don't homeschool, will ensure that their children can read and are educated, no matter any deficiency in "education".
While lack of independent critical thinking skills is much lamented by contemporary social commentators, critical thinking skills exist along a continuum, where they are balanced by a tendency to conformism. As members of society, we are all affected by the social consequences of our belief systems. Those with more culturally dissonant views risk ostracism. Those with more socially acceptable, or conformist opinions, are more accepted by society, and have lower risk of ostracism. To the extent that we become very strongly independent in our thinking, we risk alienation. To the extent that we become very strongly conformist, we risk losing our individuality - what makes us unique individuals, not just ants on an anthill.
Probably less than 5% of people are so uncompromisingly independent in their critical thinking skills that no amount of social pressure to conform will sway them. Only their own beliefs are capable of changing their minds. They often pay a big price socially for being this way, being viewed as “eccentric”, or favoring “conspiracy theories” or being “over-determined” in their opinions.
I would estimate that about 30-35% of people are conditionally independent. They are swayed by social pressures, but not so much as to relinquish their individuality. They are reluctant to go along with the crowd just because its more convenient, but they find it hard to hold to their independent convictions when the social pressures become for conformity become intense. In those cases, they tend to sacrifice individuality for the benefit of social acceptance. This is not saying they go along with conventional views for the good of others, although this can be true as well, but mostly because their own discomfort at holding to unaccepted views reaches an intolerable level.
About 50-55% of people are basically conformists. They are capable of independent critical thinking, but tend to “take it off the shelf” only when prompted by others to do so. In short, they are quite comfortable letting critical thinking skills languish if not pressured by society to put them to use. Even then, they are mindful that their thoughts might lead them into a direction that is not accepted by others. These are the people who in Stanley Milgram’s research, the Asch conformity study, and the Stanford Prison study, tend almost entirely to go along with what they are “supposed to" do.
Some number of people amounting to not more than 5% of the population are so fanatically conformist that they actually take active steps to condemn those who are out of step with mainstream thinking. These are the persecutors. Such individuals make up those who were part of the Inquisition in Spain, the McCarthy era anti-communists, COVIDians, anti-fa, and other types of zealots.
This distribution is probably culturally dependent, with countries like China and Japan having higher percentages in the “conformist” category” and countries like the U.S. and Eastern Europe being more free-thinking, and Western European countries somewhere in between. Yet in any culture, conformism will exist to a large extent, and independent thinking or dissent will exist as well, to varying but usually smaller degrees, at different historical times.
I think Dr. Peterson would disagree with you regarding conformity across cultures. The human mind is not different culture to culture. The big six traits show up universally across the species. Now, the danger to being a non-conformist is different from society to society so those who are very disagreeable have to be careful how they manifest that or else they end up imprisoned and dismembered for organ donation...
I would welcome Dr. Peterson's divergent views, as I encourage all independent thinkers to have it, and try to persuade other independent thinkers of the validity of their position. I also welcome your divergent opinion, as debate about the truth is how we align ourselves more closely with it. Thank you for your comment!
To me, Breggin’s list of causes is what leads to mass formation mentality. I would argue that some people really are suffering from delusions. How else can you explain why some people go back for more of those genetic injections, even when they have suffered in some cases, extreme injuries. They also still spout the safe and effective narrative. Behavioral, body language, and brainwashing expert Chase Hughes (many fascinating videos on YouTube if you are interested) explains that when someone makes a group part of their identity, they can’t criticize it, and will go along with just about everything. Cognitive dissonance makes people easier to manipulate. Today’s Democrat party demands that you accept sterilizing and castrating some children experiencing gender dysphoria, as well as believing that all vaccines are not only harmless, but essential to human survival. And now the socialism is creeping in…
Interesting to me that you point out the Democrat party, singling them out. Perhaps you are blindly identifying with that Other party and cannot remotely call them out and criticize that party on their deception. I don't value Anyones opinion who refuses to look at the whole picture and how this They vs Them IS the deception. Most everyone on this site falls into that schism, including you, John Leake.
I've studied The Shining a lot and watched many different dissertations about it. I don't know if the ideas you expressed were all yours and all original but, if so, absolutely top-notch analysis because I have not heard the ideas you expressed about it before, at least not all in one go.
As for the debate between Desmet and Breggin they seemed to be talking about a chicken and egg problem. What comes first, ignorance or propaganda (disseminated ignorance)? In my opinion, ignorance is chosen. People have chosen to be ignorant because in some way or another the ignorance has been rewarded and rewarding because of our ever-growing participation in socialism. The university system, funded by loans that many young people thought they were going to escape paying, turbo-charged ignorance by exchanging a four-year course in the stuff for an all-expenses-paid vacation and the kids took it. No, that's not quite right. The kids' parents and teachers insisted they take it.
You summed it up well. "If the U.S. is to remain a Constitutional Republic with limited government, “We the People” are going to need to do a much better job of arming ourselves with knowledge. An ignorant people is extremely easy to frighten and manipulate, which is why tyrants have always shown a keen interest in censorship and distracting the people they rule with garish entertainment that conveys no knowledge or moral ideas."
Ignorance is promoted at an early age in many schools. Kids are not taught to be curious, how to acquire knowledge and discern truth. They are fed information and expected to regurgitate it. A low bar for sure.
It reminds me of Israel’s school system. From preschool through university the children are taught ALL Palestinians are terrorists even little babies. This is reinforced by textbooks with photos of children with rifle killing Israelis, state media 24/7 in a “panic” mode reporting blown up Israeli school buses (false flags)sirens in the background to add to the fear and a fake Iron dome where the military shoots up their own rockets then decimates them.
Sounds of missiles blasting (fake) . This is how you use media to raise a nation of imbeciles- from birth to death do you part.
No...the election in NYC will be decided by the democrat&republican PARTY, because they are in charge of everything, but you are right about "ignorance." The dumbest, most ignorant, and gullible people in America are the republican&democrat "Useful Voters." $37 TRILLION DOLLARS of debt proves it. If you still don't believe me ask democrat&republican "Useful Voters" if they will still vote for the republican&democrat PARTY when this nation is $50 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt. Of course they'll say yes, and if they say no, they're lying, because you can ask them, "Why did you vote for them when we are $37 TRILLION DOLLARS in debt?"
~
Oh by the way, how much do you want to bet the 2028 election, according to the democrat&republican politicians, will be "the most important election of our life time?

Voting for republican&democrat politicians is voting for tyranny.

Disagree. It doesn’t matter if no one shows up, a president has already been chosen in advance and will be placed (rigged in)
Do you really believe the U.S. who rigs elections all over the world won’t rig our own?
That is very naive. The U.S. is the easiest to rig because there are still many people that deny that and even if they do believe it’s true they won’t do anything.
Interesting John and a good question and it applies both ways. Example: Why did so many fall for the Biden BS and why did so many fall for the Trump BS?
People WANT to believe in a strong leader who will lead them out of perilous times. The trouble we face now is that the state creates most of the perils that we wish to escape, and look to the state to resolve. it's like we are all suffering from Stockholm syndrome.
Yes, with special emphasis on the word “developing” since man is a conceptual being and his conceptual understanding of reality must be discovered and validated. The tragedy of the Covid saga is that there are so many adult children among us.

And the masses complied. Obeyed. Not because they were evil. But because they, through heavy propaganda and indoctrination believed a greater good was being achieved.
You speak to my heart. The mainstream media.
It is 100% the media.
.
An ongoing diallogue with God and turning off media presenting a narrative is helpful. Most churches failed us during covid.
AMEN.
To look beyond the veil into ones heart is more frightening to them than death itself.
so, so true.
Dismantling of the DoEd would help (currently blocked by lawsuits??), as will the increasing numbers of parents electing to homeschool.

Heehee “organ donation” you got that right!!
I would welcome Dr. Peterson's divergent views, as I encourage all independent thinkers to have it, and try to persuade other independent thinkers of the validity of their position. I also welcome your divergent opinion, as debate about the truth is how we align ourselves more closely with it. Thank you for your comment!
Agree
And now the socialism is creeping in…
Yes, Hughes's remarks about identity are very compelling.
Exactly.
I meant to write “THEY” still spout the safe and effective narrative
Interesting to me that you point out the Democrat party, singling them out. Perhaps you are blindly identifying with that Other party and cannot remotely call them out and criticize that party on their deception. I don't value Anyones opinion who refuses to look at the whole picture and how this They vs Them IS the deception. Most everyone on this site falls into that schism, including you, John Leake.
Basic rules: Don't lie...Listen before saying...Use critical thinking...
A brilliant focal point. More, please.
I think you nailed it with a propensity for the 7 sins and lack of immunity towards contagion.
Greed is one of them, and maybe the most common.
Greed for life equates to an equal fear of death.
I think an 8th deadly sin should be cowardice.
NYC Election will be Decided by Ignorance - by the non-voters, the Silent Majority who Do Nothing (Edmund Burke)
~
Voting for republican&democrat politicians is voting for tyranny.
~
Vote Libertarian as an alternative to the tyranny.

Yes, but the strongman is an old trap as evidenced by Mussolini, Hitler etc. which leads to a Dictator.
Seems like a NWO Trap: Weak moronic Biden which leads to Dictator Trump/Palantir Total Control!
Do you ever wonder WHO it was, who was the iron-fisted human strong man behind Biden?
The feature of a weak "leader" is that they are usually lead/bribed/manipulated ....
I call it developing a healthy BS meter.
Yes, with special emphasis on the word “developing” since man is a conceptual being and his conceptual understanding of reality must be discovered and validated. The tragedy of the Covid saga is that there are so many adult children among us.
