It is easy and dramatic to claim that SARS-CoV-2 was made by the Chinese and that it was part of a bioweapons research project.
However, by far the most detailed and, I think, convincing account of the origins of SARS-CoV-2 is by Jim Haslam and Prof. Jeffrey Sachs, who submitted to the WHO's Scientific Advisory Group for the Origins of Novel Pathogens (SAGO) on 2025-05-21 and made public on 2025-08-14:
My summary of this account follows, but please read the account itself, which starts with its own summary.
The virus was made by Ralph Baric and team at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and then altered by serial transmission in several species, and with the addition of the furin cleavage site, by Vincent Munster (soon to go on trial for smuggling biological material from China into the USA) at Rocky Mountain Lab in Montana.
The virus was intended to be a non-fatal, transmissible (by breathing and aerosols) and so self-spreading among the target species, spray-applied, vaccine for bat colonies all over the world, or at least in South-East Asia, to train their immune systems to strongly suppress variants of SARS-like coronaviruses which might be mutating to have spike protein features which would enable the variants to infect humans.
This NIAID funded work, via the U.S. based (so-called non-profit) Eco Health Alliance took place entirely within the USA, entirely funded by the U.S. government. However, it relied upon viral samples and/or files containing genetic sequences of viruses and upon general knowledge of these viruses which were developed in China, primarily by Chinese workers, with the U.S. funding at least some of these activities via the Fauci administered NIAID.
This work carried out much of the program outlined in the DEFUSE grant proposal made by the Eco Health Alliance to DARPA in 2017, which DARPA rejected. The purpose was not the creation of a bioweapon - it was to prevent, or reduce the risk, of U.S. military personnel in South East Asia contracting a human-transmissible (and so with pandemic potential) variant of SARS-like corona viruses, via a long-term program of automated spraying stations spraying bats as they leave and re-enter their caves all over China, South East Asia and ideally the world.
According to this account, the final virus was sent to Wuhan so it could be tested in small, difficult to handle and have reproduce in the lab, Chinese horseshoe bats, which were not available in the U.S.A. A bat colony (really a collection of wild-caught bats) was available in Wuhan. The testing was done by Australian based researcher Danielle Anderson, as part of this NIAID funded research. According to this account, after exposing at least one bat to the virus, she became infected and the pandemic (at least in Wuhan - I think this account does not preclude it spreading earlier than this, in some perhaps different form, in the U.S.A.) spread from Dani Anderson as she travelled to and from her apartment in Wuhan to work in the lab.
Dani Anderson was involved in revising drafts of the DEFUSE grant proposal.

While human-transmissible viruses certainly can be used as bioweapons, and while vaccines or any other treatment or preventive vaccine (or modified mRNA or adenovirus vector gene therapy falsely portrayed as a "vaccine") for such pathogens can be part of a bioweapons program (to defend one country's people from the pathogen which is intended to harm the people of that country's enemies), and while the U.S. and Chinese governments likely had a bioweapons interest in SARS-like viruses in general, according to this account the virus emerged out of research which was intended to produce a bat vaccine which would protect all humans from naturally evolved coronavirus variants, without any evidence that the researchers intended to produce a virus which was intended to infect humans.
In reality, I believe, the purpose of the research was primarily to fund the Eco Health Alliance and all those paid to do the research, with the U.S. military and NIAID somehow, supposedly, believing that the proposed bat vaccination scheme might be practical and effective. It is extremely difficult to imagine how it could be effective, with all the practical considerations, and the reliance on the principle that enough bats would have their immune systems sufficiently attuned to all possible variants evolving towards human transmissibility, despite being primed to do so by just one (at least in this initial program) set of epitopes on the U.S. engineered virus which was intended to act as this vaccine.
The creation of this virus was criminally reckless in the extreme, because it involved gain of function research to deliberately engineer a virus to infect and be transmissible in humans.
The continuing coverup, by Chinese and American authorities, institutions and individuals is just as criminal. David Morens' guilty plea is an important step in revealing the truth about what happened and who is responsible for this 100% man-made pandemic and disastrous pandemic response.
Jim Haslam's substack, and his book which I have read, is the best example you can have of something having an incomplete file of verifiable facts, and coming to the totally wrong conclusion, because they can't see the bigger picture. It's like being given two-thirds of the pieces a jig saw puzzle and considering that they are the whole picture.
Jim and I have disagreed on this in the past. For whatever reason he doesn't want to look at the rest of the jigsaw puzzles relating to Baric and a whole host of people outside of his discourse, who have long planned this.
There are four key pieces of many of the jigsaw puzzle pieces, missing from Haslam's tame narrative of a "good intention gone wrong".
1) The genetic make up of Sars-Cov-2 and the insertions which Pradhan made clear in February 2020 (withdrawn at Fauci's insistence 6 days later). Those sequences are also discussed in a hidden manner in several subsequent articles which somehow Fauci missed.
2) October 2019, Event 2 (world) 1 commonly known as Event 201 - such a brazen logo with a 2 then a globe and a 1, which clearly foretold that the vaccine would be released from 2021 onwards... You just have to have watched all those videos and read the material to understand that to do Event 201 was NEVER a spontaneous event.... but one that required years in the planning utilising previous tabletop aims and objectives...
3) The FACT that every country prior to Event 201 had spent 20+ years and millions of currencies, prior to 2020, constructing unique pandemic plans - all of which were thrown out the window on Jan 1 2020 in favour of world-wide adoption of lockdowns etc etc...
4) That the lockdown plans enacted world wide were already written about and publicly published in 2010 by the Rockerfeller foundation on page 17 and 18 in this document, which we lived out, almost to the letter:

My understanding that Jim Haslam has focused specifically on how the virus was created and came to start a pandemic.
He is not trying to document the the whole, global, social, political, corrupted groupthunk, interlinked set of circumstances in which these events took place. That is a task beyond any one person.
Do you have any specific criticisms of what he wrote?
Surely you can add some context about the factors which influenced the funding decisions, the fascination with vaccines and with gain of function research. Do you think anything is fundamentally wrong with the sequence of events he describes?
To add the context would require writing an encyclopaedic book, which at my age, I'm not keen on doing. I want a life, after having been very active in this field since 1981, both in New Zealand, USA and around the world, and having worked with many of the whistleblowers who were treated shamefully in the 1960's onwards. My knowledge of the bigger picture encompasses a lot more than Jim appears to have grasped, and a lot of that knowledge has been handed on to many of the doctors who have lost their licenses over the years.....
Most people would scoff at what I'm going to say next, because I'm not going to give many references for the simple reason that there are so many it would be a cure for insomnia. The problem isn't that there isn't enough information to construct the bigger picture, but that there is so much that to catalogue it all, is to get smothered in a mountain of information, about which the medical system stays silent, even though much of it IS in the public domain. They rely on people not looking, because who would believe that this could be orchestrated against the people the medical system is supposed to be helping?

All of the above is critically important to the covid story because SV40 has become the cornerstone to genetically engineering viruses. the E.coli plasmid with the same four SV40 gene sequences are the cornerstone for the manufacture of the Pfizer Comirnaty, Shingrix, The RSV subunit vaccines they give to pregnant mothers, and the RSV vaccine for babies. SV40 is used in the manufacture of one of the more recent Hep B Prehevbrio vaccine as well.
The key core paper trail is Ralph Baric, and if you read everything he has published from the beginning, the core of the story is blindingly obvious. Everything he knew in the 80's is core to the serious reactions we saw from the covid shots.
But back to Sars-cov-2 itself. Imo the theory that it was to be something to prevent infections in the military is too naive and simply untenable when you look at the genetic backbone of WIV1.
Have you done that? Start with Cheng 2020, PMID 32989130. There are lots of others, but this one is one of the earliest and the clearest. (Darja Kanduc's early thoughts also bear careful scrutiny). Pradhan Feb 2020 Four HIV sequences incluidng GP120. Cheng confirms and also shows Rabies G8 Protein - which is a sequence also shared by the bacterial toxin Proaerolysin; Naja naja cobratoxin sequence; naja Kaouthia cobratoxin sequence; bungarotoxin sequence - which she called an enterotoxin B superantigen toxin which binds to the neuropilin receptor. An of course arginine at the third position, which inclreases cleavage efficiency ten times isn't suspicious???? . Have a good read of PMID: 33786037

There are SO MANY pubmed articles which look at this "elephant in the room" from all angles, that the only surprise for me is that people can come to "innocent" conclusions.

But the authors of this plan were and are still relying on the fast mutating variants slowly, slowly getting to all those who didn't take the jab. There are all sorts of connections, which would require tiresomely long descriptions and diagrams to depict. I believe the impetus towards vastly destructive misuse of influence and power is all over the place in humanity and that one example of it is the way people in positions of power and authority have pushed *vaccines* and insisted everyone should be happy to take very vaccine offered them without question.
This, together with the intoxicating (for those so inclined) vision of nearly instantly programmable (mRNA, and also adenovirus vector) gene therapies which can be portrayed, promoted and mandated as "vaccines", can lead such people to be be so supportive of these reckless interventions, because they have so much faith in their ultimate benefits, that their actions become tyrannical to the point of mass murder, with a billion or so people mandated to take mRNA and adenovirus vector injections in the heat of a (totally man-made, by the same kind of experts who are making and promoting these injections) pandemic. The monstrous evil this constitutes and the fact that this was inflicted on humanity due to the COVID-19 pandemic does not make me think, or assume, that the same, specific, intent (to develop, mass-deploy and so supposedly prove the safety and efficiency of these gene therapies) also specifically planned the creation of the SARS-CoV-2 virus which led to the pandemic which was a necessary precondition for this mass deployment.
I believe that both these disastrous events - the virus and the resulting pandemic, and the mass deployment of these gene therapies - spring from the same toxic brew of delusion, psychopathy, lust for fame and profit, faith in complex technical solutions etc. etc. (it would be a long essay . . . ), but that there was not a specific, deliberate, organised and now covered-up line of planning such as "we need to get a billion people to take these injections ca. 2020 so lets organise someone to engineer a coronavirus to create the pandemic which will allow us to do this". Likewise the other disastrous elements of the pandemic response (avoidance of vitamin D3, HCQ, Ivermectin etc., reliance on "vaccines" and patented drugs; lockdowns; masks; social distancing). These spring from the same toxic soup of above-average intelligence, highly educated, Western humanity full of itself, unable to see beyond groupthink exept to lead it to new heights of folly and cruelty. I do not see all these disasters springing from a specifically, centrally, planned, tree-like structure, of intent. I see them like a bunch of lesions, all with different etiologies, all on the one generally diseased, abused, malnourished body of humanity - or like separate stench emitting piles of suffering, death and decay in a vast, degraded, battlefield between good and evil, with the same general common causes, but relatively independent of each other for their existence.
I am not claiming any of these people are innocent or less guilty of crimes against humanity (because of the mass scale and indiscriminate nature of the death and harm they caused). I see them as related disasters in an overall larger sea of systemic disasters of thought, morality, corruption and cult-like social contagion. My impression is that your critique of Jim Haslam's work is that he doesn't concern himself with what you see as an external impetus for the research which lead to the creation of SARS-CoV-2. I think his work is fine on its own, because I think the impetus for the research is explicable in terms of the general mess of corrupt, reckless, well above average intelligent people, without any evidence it was dependent on an external plan to create a pandemic in order to force the gene therapy injections on a large subset of entire populations.

Perhaps you don't see it regarding the deliberate lab creation of Sars-Cov-2 (from Sars cov 1 etc etc.... , maybe.... because you have only looked at the few grains of sand I have described.

And I don't know why Jim Haslam doesn't talk about them... because they back up exactly what the medical literature leads to, with regard to it's creation. My head has always concerned itself with published medical literature relating to biological consequences from deliberate genetic tinkering, with deliberate intent, which has been going on for over 100 years now.
It was only possible for me to see "the beach" at the point where I had enough grains of sand, to see it all stretched out in length. Interestingly enough, the warning flag for me was Baric's 2016 article, but the actual plan only came together while watching Event 201. Right then, I knew that we were going to see SARs-cov-2 or WIV1 from the 2016 medical article, whichever name you want to ascribe to Sars-cov-2.

You need to explain the backbone (non-spike portion) . The closest virus known RaTG13 was more than 1000 nucleotide difference and the early sequence was a mess due to low reads. While Baric might have engineered the spike even he could not engineer a full genome.
Furthermore, DEFUSE never entertained the idea of a bat vaccine that was a live replicating full genome Sars like virus. The vaccine they proposed was a non-replicating pseudo virus using a raccoon pox virus vector w/engineered spike that would enter cells and produce a spike and generate an immune response.
Furthermore, even if Baric/Munster did generate Sars-Cov-2 and I dont rule that out, they probably did so for other reasons and not to vaccinate bats. After all, I cant imagine the profit incentive for a bat vaccine in China caves. Furthermore, there is no way China approves introducing a novel coronavirus into wild bat colonies. He also would have done preliminary testing to see how his novel virus infected various cells, and would have seen Sars-Cov-2 infects hACE 2 cells very well and not so well in bat cells. My idea is Baric told his pals in the IC and Military and somebody hatched the scheme to vaccinate the world with a live transmissible vaccine (viruses are natures vaccine) and generate a pandemic .

My summary of this account follows, but please read the account itself, which starts with its own summary.
The virus was made by Ralph Baric and team at University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and then altered by serial transmission in several species, and with the addition of the furin cleavage site, by Vincent Munster (soon to go on trial for smuggling biological material from China into the USA) at Rocky Mountain Lab in Montana.
The virus was intended to be a non-fatal, transmissible (by breathing and aerosols) and so self-spreading among the target species, spray-applied, vaccine for bat colonies all over the world, or at least in South-East Asia, to train their immune systems to strongly suppress variants of SARS-like coronaviruses which might be mutating to have spike protein features which would enable the variants to infect humans.
This NIAID funded work, via the U.S. based (so-called non-profit) Eco Health Alliance took place entirely within the USA, entirely funded by the U.S. government. However, it relied upon viral samples and/or files containing genetic sequences of viruses and upon general knowledge of these viruses which were developed in China, primarily by Chinese workers, with the U.S. funding at least some of these activities via the Fauci administered NIAID.
This work carried out much of the program outlined in the DEFUSE grant proposal made by the Eco Health Alliance to DARPA in 2017, which DARPA rejected. The purpose was not the creation of a bioweapon - it was to prevent, or reduce the risk, of U.S. military personnel in South East Asia contracting a human-transmissible (and so with pandemic potential) variant of SARS-like corona viruses, via a long-term program of automated spraying stations spraying bats as they leave and re-enter their caves all over China, South East Asia and ideally the world.
According to this account, the final virus was sent to Wuhan so it could be tested in small, difficult to handle and have reproduce in the lab, Chinese horseshoe bats, which were not available in the U.S.A. While human-transmissible viruses certainly can be used as bioweapons, and while vaccines or any other treatment or preventive vaccine (or modified mRNA or adenovirus vector gene therapy falsely portrayed as a "vaccine") for such pathogens can be part of a bioweapons program (to defend one country's people from the pathogen which is intended to harm the people of that country's enemies), and while the U.S. and Chinese governments likely had a bioweapons interest in SARS-like viruses in general, according to this account the virus emerged out of research which was intended to produce a bat vaccine which would protect all humans from naturally evolved coronavirus variants, without any evidence that the researchers intended to produce a virus which was intended to infect humans.
In reality, I believe, the purpose of the research was primarily to fund the Eco Health Alliance and all those paid to do the research, with the U.S. military and NIAID somehow, supposedly, believing that the proposed bat vaccination scheme might be practical and effective. It is extremely difficult to imagine how it could be effective, with all the practical considerations, and the reliance on the principle that enough bats would have their immune systems sufficiently attuned to all possible variants evolving towards human transmissibility, despite being primed to do so by just one (at least in this initial program) set of epitopes on the U.S. engineered virus which was intended to act as this vaccine.
The creation of this virus was criminally reckless in the extreme, because it involved gain of function research to deliberately engineer a virus to infect and be transmissible in humans.
The continuing coverup, by Chinese and American authorities, institutions and individuals is just as criminal. David Morens' guilty plea is an important step in revealing the truth about what happened and who is responsible for this 100% man-made pandemic and disastrous pandemic response.
Jim Haslam's substack, and his book which I have read, is the best example you can have of something having an incomplete file of verifiable facts, and coming to the totally wrong conclusion, because they can't see the bigger picture. There are four key pieces of many of the jigsaw puzzle pieces, missing from Haslam's tame narrative of a "good intention gone wrong".

3) The FACT that every country prior to Event 201 had spent 20+ years and millions of currencies, prior to 2020, constructing unique pandemic plans - all of which were thrown out the window on Jan 1 2020 in favour of world-wide adoption of lockdowns etc etc...

Hello Hilary, The general thrust of United States government funded research into pathogens and countermeasures, including specifically coronaviruses and mRNA gene therapy injections falsely portrayed as "vaccines" is part of the overall setting of the events Jim Haslam and Jeffrey Sachs recount.
Likewise the largely successful efforts of government agencies and others, including those in the mass media and those who run social media companies, to unjustifiably influence and control the information most people have available to them, and to use censorship, deregistration of doctors etc. to suppress proper debate.
The U.S. military had, and still has, a strong interest in mRNA injections because they could be crafted for the protein(s) of a specific pathogen and deployed as millions of doses in a month or so. This is much faster than the techniques used for making vaccines of various types: live attenuated viruses and bacteria, killed viruses and bacteria and lipid nanoparticle, protein festooned, vaccines such as that from Novavax.
A major part of all this was the extreme, cult-like, ill-informed, faith and enthusiasm for *vaccines*.

My understanding that Jim Haslam has focused specifically on how the virus was created and came to start a pandemic.
He is not trying to document the the whole, global, social, political, corrupted groupthunk, interlinked set of circumstances in which these events took place. That is a task beyond any one person.

Surely you can add some context about the factors which influenced the funding decisions, the fascination with vaccines and with gain of function research. Do you think anything is fundamentally wrong with the sequence of events he describes?
To add the context would require writing an encyclopaedic book, which at my age, I'm not keen on doing. I want a life, after having been very active in this field since 1981, both in New Zealand, USA and around the world, and having worked with many of the whistleblowers who were treated shamefully in the 1960's onwards. My knowledge of the bigger picture encompasses a lot more than Jim appears to have grasped, and a lot of that knowledge has been handed on to many of the doctors who have lost their licenses over the years.....

All of the above is critically important to the covid story because SV40 has become the cornerstone to genetically engineering viruses. the E.coli plasmid with the same four SV40 gene sequences are the cornerstone for the manufacture of the Pfizer Comirnaty, Shingrix, The RSV subunit vaccines they give to pregnant mothers, and the RSV vaccine for babies. I believe the impetus towards vastly destructive misuse of influence and power is all over the place in humanity and that one example of it is the way people in positions of power and authority have pushed *vaccines* and insisted everyone should be happy to take very vaccine offered them without question.

I think his work is fine on its own, because I think the impetus for the research is explicable in terms of the general mess of corrupt, reckless, well above average intelligent people, without any evidence it was dependent on an external plan to create a pandemic in order to force the gene therapy injections on a large subset of entire populations.

And I don't know why Jim Haslam doesn't talk about them... because they back up exactly what the medical literature leads to, with regard to it's creation. My head has always concerned itself with published medical literature relating to biological consequences from deliberate genetic tinkering, with deliberate intent, which has been going on for over 100 years now.
It was only possible for me to see "the beach" at the point where I had enough grains of sand, to see it all stretched out in length. Interestingly enough, the warning flag for me was Baric's 2016 article, but the actual plan only came together while watching Event 201. Right then, I knew that we were going to see SARs-cov-2 or WIV1 from the 2016 medical article, whichever name you want to ascribe to Sars-cov-2.
But even so, the whole thing is so nepharious, that I'm sure there are connections, and beaches beyond this one that I've not seen either.
The reason this particular beach is important, is because it explains so many past and present so-called "epidemics"or ... "outbreaks" ... and needless vaccines and gene jabs, both looking backwards, but also potentially, looking forwards as well.

You need to explain the backbone (non-spike portion) . The closest virus known RaTG13 was more than 1000 nucleotide difference and the early sequence was a mess due to low reads. While Baric might have engineered the spike even he could not engineer a full genome.
Furthermore, DEFUSE never entertained the idea of a bat vaccine that was a live replicating full genome Sars like virus. The vaccine they proposed was a non-replicating pseudo virus using a raccoon pox virus vector w/engineered spike that would enter cells and produce a spike and generate an immune response.
Furthermore, even if Baric/Munster did generate Sars-Cov-2 and I dont rule that out, they probably did so for other reasons and not to vaccinate bats. After all, I cant imagine the profit incentive for a bat vaccine in China caves. Furthermore, there is no way China approves introducing a novel coronavirus into wild bat colonies. Coronaviruses recombine with other viruses and nobody could predict what might emerge from such an uncontrolled experiment. Frankly the idea is bat shit crazy
But lets assume the did create a live virus to vaccinate bats. Baric is wildly protective of his property and would have patented anything he gave China. He also would have done preliminary testing to see how his novel virus infected various cells, and would have seen Sars-Cov-2 infects hACE 2 cells very well and not so well in bat cells. He probably has the bright idea this virus coukd be a live attenuated human vaccine. Daszak himself said DEFUSE could lead to a human vaccine
My idea is Baric told his pals in the IC and Military and somebody hatched the scheme to vaccinate the world with a live transmissible vaccine (viruses are natures vaccine) and generate a pandemic .
Releasing the virus in China near their BSL 4 facility during the Wuhan Military games made sense for obvious reason. Fauci, Daszak and WIV became the scapegoats but always the focus is on accidental release and not deliberate. A limited hangout.

If this man sees a prison, it will be remarkable....government employees tend to protect their fellow sociopathic bacteria - increasingly this is true of the Judicial branch of our government. The reality is, that none of the creatures ever lose their Federal pensions. If he serves any time in prison, he will emerge to collect his very fat and very cushy, Federal pensions - far beyond what Social Security passes out to the productive contributors. They need to be thrown out onto the street, where the public can have access to them and justice can be properly administered.

I know how you feel. With all the information surfacing, it still appears to be going nowhere. No one is being held responsible. Fauci, a major player has not been put on trial for what he did and he is walking around free. When it is known that CV-19 vaxxes have injured and killed multi-millions; and they are still being marketed; this is insane! Will there ever be any real justice?
