Nootropics, also known as "smart drugs" or cognitive enhancers, are substances that claim to improve brain performance and cognitive function. Some people use them to try to increase mental alertness and concentration, improve memory, and boost energy levels and wakefulness. In general, nootropics fall into three general categories: dietary supplements, synthetic compounds, and prescription drugs. This piece will review the supplements.
