Dr. McCullough. I was fascinated by this article, and your experience as a runner, (running is not knee friendly), and concluded that I must speak up, and admit what I have learned, quite by good fortune and the grace of God, to benefit you and everyone who trusts you.
I have avoided surgery for decades, initially diagnosed with "a worn out acromion joint", and have been virtually pain free in the shoulders, knees and elbows, by consuming capsules of the dried herb, Horsetail, intermittently for decades since.
Apparently the herb is very rich in silicic acid (also nicotinic acid). The silicic acid (vitamin form of silicon), is vital to the regeneration of connective tissue in the shoulders, knees and elbows. It may be useful for many other purposes also.
I believe the extraordinary rate of joint replacement surgeries in the Western world is due to lack of silicon rich foodstuffs in the diet. All would benefit from supplementation. Horsetail grows abundantly in gravelly wetlands, and is inexpensive, and widely available.
A brief review of the product described by you today left me surprised that horsetail WAS NOT included in the ingredients.
Because I have used it successfully, off and on for decades, and personally proven it's efficacy in ending pain in the joints and in actually helping joints to regenerate and heal, I am asking if you would be able to look into the matter, and possibly share a new product for your subscribers, and the world's benefit. (I am not seeking an interest in a venture, Doc, or any kind of remuneration or benefit). Just sayin'.
The herb is equisetum arvense, (aerial), dried, and capsulated into 800mg servings, of which I use two daily. It is important to NOT use the herb fresh, because of the nicotinic acid. I am told the nicotinic acid is evaporated in the drying process. Initially, pain disappears in about two weeks. Regular use prevents recurrence of pain and disability. After a long period, months to years of NOT taking the herb, pain will return. Two weeks or so, after resuming use of the herb, pain disappears, and the joint is usable again. I am quite certain that regular use of the herb horsetail supports the joints, and prevents undue deterioration of the cartilage and connections.
A Neuro surgeon and his team once remarked on my shoulders at one physical examination and asked why I was in such excellent condition (referring to the joints), and a family doctor (of about 25 yrs. service) noted in his daily notes that the surgery he recommended was no longer required. He noted my one-year trial of Horsetail vs surgery was successful.
I have mentioned this herb casually, for years, to many folk in my travels, and each have reported success with it... one even told me it "fixed" the problem with his 'A1C'.
I hope this information could be put to good use by your company, Doc. God bless you.
Therablue sounds very useful. I wonder whether using it in conjunction with DMSO would be even more helpful?
