What kind of father would allow this? Would upend his career and his family's life to destroy all three?

The shooter, a male-female trans was raised by his mother who actively encouraged him to transition. He was violent as a kid and a failure as a student dropping out of school in his early teens. But he was surrounded by guns. When he snapped he killed his mother, step brother, then went to his old school to hunt down kids much younger than him.
