Great post John. I believe Lincoln would consider Washington DC a horrible nightmare were he to experience it today. In my opinion it is the most corrupt place on earth. That is certainly an arguable distinction but my case rests on the staggering pretension and hypocrisy of the place, that layered on top of its utter corruption. Nothing is what is appears to be. Everything is cloaked. The media presents it as a serious place, with one side fighting for the average citizen and the other side in opposition. It is all illusion of the most grotesque kind. I believe the average American has no idea how evil the government of this nation has become. Washington DC is ruled by Baphomet. No mistake

"our U.S. government now seems entirely dedicated to enriching, aggrandizing, and protecting its rich and corrupt friends." It is now that way by design. Unless and until you outlaw all political donations except by individual citizens, and put a reasonable limit on them ($10 max, $100 max), this will continue as politicians are indebted to the organizations that "support" them.

Or, even better: no donations whatsoever at all to ‘the government’, by individuals or businesses or groups? Why in the hell would people need to make ‘donations’ to government officials or governmental entities, anyway? As we all know, there’s only one reason. Lobbying (aka bribery).

And outlaw insider trading and enforce strong ethics rules to stop the revolving door between corporate interests and government office. But Congress will never vote to stop their grifting!

I have commented elsewhere, that if God opened a chasm in his Earth and swallowed Washington DC whole, that America would be better for it. Rhetorical hyperbole but I believe it would be true.

I also noticed that in the email, that sentence said November 19, 1963, but in the above text it is correct.

Beautiful John and so appropriate - Thank you!

The Gettysburg Address is a masterpiece as you noted and I appreciate the points you emphasized!

I have visited Gettysburg many times and I am always touched by what happened there and can feel it.

Your Cicero quote is perfect.

Crassus (Trump) is doing his best to destroy America, as did Biden, and as you noted only a few brave people like Massie are trying to do what is best for America at great cost to them.

America is a Zionist Owned country by Blackmail. bribery, murder and threats. Our "Leaders", they are not leaders they are Traitor Cowards owned by a Foreign country (Our True Enemy). And no I do not mean all Jews.

In 2013 I travelled to the USA targetting Civil war routes and of course Gettysberg. I spent weeks on historic battlefields and the whole tour at times gave me weird feelings I defined as respect and awe at the magnitude of the battles. There were many eerie places and stop gap cemeteries where especially the south had buried their soldiers. The most eerie location I visited was a wooded area with a restored wooden bridge that crossed a stream. The plaques described a small battle here involving a total of eighty soldiers from both sides.

Yet the most eerie I felt happened when I visited the battle grounds of the big battle where the North defeated the south due to the failure of the Southern calvary to skirt and come up behind the grapeshot cannons that slew many of the southern army approaching directly towards the army of the North.

At the site of the southern encampment there is a knoll where the southern generals pitched their tents and overlooked what was to be the battlefield the next day. I stood there transfixed for half an hour as I considered the slaughter the next day that was the most important battle of the Civil war. I just experience such places as sacred as was my visit to the place where the truce and surrender was signed. I think it was Appomatox. I walked up the same steps the two opposing generals had and entered the same building and looked past the room barrier where the surrender had been agreed upon. The North and Southern generals standing there where an act of respect occurred with the northern General not telling General Lee to surrender his sword.

I will never forget that trip as the most memorable one I ever took to the USA. I have been to the USA every year from 2006 to 2021 enjoying the friendships with primarily women I have met and long lasting friendships with them and one especially that will exist to my dying day.

While I am at it the USA is the greatest nation in the whole world and the people there I adore who are the best quality I ever met.

Narcissism. I used to be naive until recently it has trickled down into more bite sized pieces. From a historical political viewpoint it is easy and comfortable to look at WW2 and the present Ukraine / Russian conflict if you are not in any of these war zones or if you an individual who stayed home in the US during WW2. Same is true in the bible. In the prophesy concerning the End Times given by Jesus it is not a big deal to one personally what is happening in the Middle East, wars out there, earthquakes, famines, and so on. Because someone else has to deal with the messes and fallouts. But where people miss it in these prophesies is not doing what it is says,

"Pray and BE ALERT".

Prayer is conversation not with someone who will try to sell you a bill of goods, lie to you, try to offer to you something that has a hidden ill motive. No, you are having conversation with someone who is truthful, informative, gives wisdom generously, genuinely cares about you. Here is where the narcissism comes in. It has trickled down from the dark elite to society and institutional level. Science, justice, police, medicine, family, church, friends have been infiltated and perverted. Many have accepted bribes or sold out to corruption. And narcissism is knowingly doing things to harm others and pretending to be saintly, pious, scientific, honest or righteous. In the prophesies of Jesus is mentioned not only the more dramatic things but also more personal and subtle things, a departing from the faith and sound principles, betrayal by friends and family. If we are complacent and dull instead of prayerful and alert, we will not notice these infestations of narcissism into our institutions, society, work place, family, personal life. We will be too distracted by the drama of wars, earthquakes, and famines.

The 1800s his-story we're fed is nothing but a collection of lies. All of it written by the FOUNDers, who also penned the tale of 1776 and those "founders." The evidence of this fraud is the architecture all around us that was supposedly built without power tools, trucks, cranes, etc., in which, the FOUNDers' descendants are still squatters in.

It is worth noting that he said our nation is under God. Too many people trying to run the world today thinking they are God. Too many people deciding for themselves what is right and wrong.

If Lincoln and Grant were here today, they would see the fruition of the centralization of economic and political power and the establishment of empire that they fought for, under the pretext of humanitarian concern for the African slaves whom they despised and discriminated against before, during, and after the war at least as much as the southerners who enslaved them.

A nice piece.

Just a note: AI shows our government has become a government of corporations, by corporations, for corporations.

AI is nothing but a corporate infrastructure program that will enable all corporations to increase their profit margins by reducing their staffs. Anybody pushing it works for corporations - not for the people...

True! "The U.S. government is now built on a sewer!" We, the people, who are supposed to be the government are left out in the cold. The Government caters to those who will contribute the most money to its special interests. Our Founders tried to protect the people's interests, but our Congress totally ignores the Constitution, which was designed to protect the people. It is riding for a fall that will impact the entire world.
