The Church directs on some "medical" issues like abortion, euthanasia, artificial birth control, etc. which Catholics are to obey, and spends significant time studying medical issues. There are some smart folks in this process but obviously there are some dumbbells, too, as evidenced by the Covid response.
My grandmothers' and grandfathers' lives would have been so much easier if they had used artificial birth control. Times have changed though. I know most parents in my state, allowed their kids to take the experimental mRNA shots, it is something I can never come to terms with.
