I understand we need to protest what’s going on in Europe but we also must be vigilant in our own country. The new administration talks a big story about free speech and yet is busy getting rid of students and anyone who RIGhTLY protests the genocide in Gaza and US complicity. We all need to be free to express our thoughts on US policy.
Free speech is an inalienable right. It is guaranteed. It is not alright for people who are guests in our country to call for unrest and or assault Citizens of this country. Those that do need visas revoked and they will be deported. What the fraudulent Biden administration did was/is treason. The fool Biden was not even cognizant. So these illegals need to be removed. Also people visiting your home and calling for action against and impugning members of your home would not be welcome for long. Use your head people. This is a civil war. It may not be kinetic today. The violence is ramping up and it’s coming from the left. That is undeniable.
"Free speech is an inalienable right. It is guaranteed. It is not alright for people who are guests in our country to call for unrest and or assault Citizens of this country."
Well, then, which is it that we should deny visitors to whom we are proud to demonstrate our superior ethics -- free speech, or commission of crimes? It sounds as if any who are *not* committing crimes should be free to speak as they wish. Correct?
I think that the kind of "trouble" that should lead you to "get your ass thrown out" would be actual crimes. That's where we differ.
So no, I didn't know that Donald Trump and company would find excuses to stretch the limits of what the law permits, rather than show an example to the world that we actually value our freedoms. So much that we would allow guests the same legal freedoms.
Actual Crimes? So lets say I sneak into your house at 2AM with the full intent of not being found out.
You discover me sleeping in the kitchen at 7am after I emptied your fridge.
So your take is that I am not a criminal but a welcome guest "exercising my freedoms" and you will of course follow all due process laws and not throw me out until I have had my day in court (in about 3 years - while I eat your food).
In this case, you've committed crimes. What does exercising your freedom of speech have to do with it?
Inversely, any visa guest of the U.S. who *solely* practices free speech, and does not commit crimes, is irrelevant to your example of criminality.
Separately, if a visa guest of the U.S. combines (legal) speech with (illegal) crimes, don't be disingenuous and blame it solely on the crimes, when we know the motivating reason is the speech. In that case, you're mafioso, as in "Nice Palestinian protest you've got there. Be a shame if anything were to happen to it." Especially when large numbers of cases of criminality by non-citizens have been routinely ignored for years.
Why don't we just focus on the actual reason you're all hot and bothered by this?
Visa’s are invitations to visit our (or any other issuing) country. Just like an invitation to your home. They come with conditions attached tied to the purpose (e.g., tourist visas don’t permit you to work) & those conditions are explicitly spelled out in the visa.
Turning to the invitations analogy: my next door neighbors are Democrat; I avoided complaining about the vegetable that they elected for the last administration, and likewise touting Trump’s successes.
I want to be invited back.
Likewise, when I go overseas, I refrain from commenting or criticizing their national policies, unless I am invited to and then I am circumspect about how I do it.
Lovely Rita, I know that tourist visas do not permit the visa holder to work. I have been assisting three friends from Ghana in their pursuit of emigration to the USA. Two of them have tourist visas & I know for a fact that work is not permitted (now what the criminal & treasonous Biden regime allowed is a different matter, but there is a new sheriff in town), and if they want to change the terms of their visa, to allow them to work legally, there are procedures and conditions that they must follow, and I an pretty sure that protesting current USA foreign policies is not something that will enhance their chances of getting a green card. My friends are too smart and their goals of improving their lives are too important to them to be doing something stupid like protesting for a misogynist, terrorizing, murderous organization like Hamas, even though one of them is nominally Muslim.
“We” can go to Europe and criticize their policy but someone lawfully in the US cannot? Hypocracy! Genocide is against the Geneva Convention. All humans everywhere should be able and willing to protest it. Next it could be you.
There is no genocide in Gaza. Hamas has genocide against Jews and the extermination of the Jews and the state of Israel as its founding principle. The only reasons that they (Hamas) have not accomplished it is that they are no match for the IDF, they are too incompetent, their leaders are too corrupt, & God is against Hamas (& very likely for Israel). Talk with any Palestinian on the street and you can confirm that.
Ypu are blind and deaf and looking the other way and chanting nah nah nah nah.. open your eyes , listen and read what’s happening there. May I suggest Drop Site News so you can read another perspective?
I don’t need another perspective, Hamas had the full support of the population of Gaza when they invaded southern Israel unprovoked, murdered & tortured civilians from babies to elderly, raping women, taking hostages (who have been held captive by the civilian population of Gaza in inhumane conditions on starvation rations, all of which are violations of the Geneva Conventions and every other moral standard. Hamas uses civilians as shields, by policy, having military personnel & facilities under hospitals and schools. They have co-opted UNRA, staffed the local press with their partisans, such that all you get from Gaza is Hamas propaganda.
Hamas bears sole responsibility for all deaths and injuries as a result, IMHO.
Given all the above , the IDF would be fully justified in wiping out the whole population of Gaza, the civilians are complicit. It is Grace, fully undeserved Grace that the IDF has not, and even if they did, it would not be genocide, as there is the whole population of Palestinians on the West Bank who would be unaffected, not to mention 1.6 million Palestinian Arabs living peacefully and with full freedom in Israel.
What you have been reading & have recommended for my reading is unadulterated propaganda.
You would probably be happier putting on a burka and moving to an Islamic country.
I am confused. Kids & women killed in cold blood, well documented that Hamas did that. Yet the tone of your post is anti IDF. Do you have verified sources (not Hamas propaganda).
Well documented that the true Triune God is NOT Allah, who is NOT Akbar.
I have been against the Gaza Genocide before bombing even began in Gaza. I knew Genocide was coming. I've written extensively in my substack researching the AI connection enabling mass extermination of civilian populations in our current time, for make no mistake, the overall nature of the Gaza Genocide is determined by AI-orchestrated warfare.
I am utterly and absolutely opposed to the demonstrations perpetrated by campus Marxists allegedly supporting Palestinians in Gaza. First and foremost, they denied all citizens the right of free ingress/egress on campuses. They have no authority to do so. Secondly, they hounded and harassed Jewish students. They have no right to do so. Thirdly, they acted like children. They broke into buildings; trashed campuses and buildings; LEFT their trash everywhere; and confronted in aggressive manner simple people like custodians just trying to do their jobs. Who gave them the authority to act like thugs?
I don't support barbarism no matter who's doing it: Zionist Israelis or Marxist-left leaning insurrectionists on American campuses.
I agree, very pro peaceful protest but against all the tactics you outlined. One thing floors me though, the hateful comments in the comment section of an Uncensored debate with Piers Morgan against Arabs. Many people with poor grammar and spelling hate Muslims. It is refreshing to listen to Gabor Mate speak on the issue in terms of deep compassion for all. As an aside, Palestine delivers great education to its youth despite all obstacles.
Gabor Mate is a voice in the wilderness. The Palestinians, as a people, have exemplified the highest ideals of humanity. Hamas destroys them as much as they destroy Israelis. People are too beguiled by the programmed black/white versions of "reality" offered them today. Cheers!
Are you proud of denying guests to the country -- the world's undisputed vanguard for de jure free speech -- the ability to speak as they wish if they commit no crimes?
We are citizens of the United States, are endowed by our creator with the right to free speech. If you’re here as a guest with a visa, granted you by the federal government, I don’t believe that to be true.
I truly think we differ more than that. After the last four years we have all learned a lot about what “finding the limits of what the law permits” means.
History and the greatest minds of the 20th century (Milosz, Havel, Sakharov, Solzhenitsyn, etc.) confirm that freedom of thought cannot be extinguished, even by the most repressive regimes. Attempts to restrain it in the West—or anywhere—are not only futile in the long run, but also fundamentally at odds with the core values that have driven human progress and dignity.
Someone once stated to me that to become responsible is the first step to true freedom. To become responsible for every word that we say, how it is said? when it is said and why. This also applies to what we do, how we do it and why we do it. Speaking has great responsibility attached to it. Most indigenous cultures understood this. In today's reality words are cheap and hold nothing in them most of the time and money, unfortunately, can buy many words.
Timely report, John Leake. All of the Western world needs to pay heed...we are indeed in perilous times. Without freedom of expression to vent the discontent of the folks with the disingenuous and genocidal governments,... violence will be inevitable.
Nice pic indeed. I am on volume 6 of Durant - The Reformation - what a fantastic book, arguably the best American history book. At this stage, I fear the internet and AI spell the end of free speech and where will we be then? Are we actually living through the end of western civilization?
The dissident voices against mRNA shots, and pro Ivermectin heralded a new era of censorship. When society is dazed and confused, it is subject to control. But people wake up, and the momentum builds. New laws will be established to protect our privacy rights and free speech rights in a world dominated by AI. This is all new territory.
The majority never wake up on anything. Even when they finally believe tobacco causes cancer, it is because they saw it on billboards. It only takes a subsection of clear headed, free thinkers to turn things around. It has always been like this.
“Unpopular ideas can be silenced, and inconvenient facts kept dark, without the need for any official ban… At any given moment there is an orthodoxy, a body of ideas which it is assumed that all right-thinking people will accept without question. It is not exactly forbidden to say this, that or the other, but it is ‘not done’ to say it, just as in mid-Victorian times it was ‘not done’ to mention trousers in the presence of a lady. Anyone who challenges the prevailing orthodoxy finds himself silenced with surprising effectiveness. A genuinely unfashionable opinion is almost never given a fair hearing, either in the popular press or in the highbrow periodicals.” – George Orwell (1945)
So true, my opinions on the dangers of mRNA shots were not only not given a fair hearing, but they were also shunned from the outset, and so I shut up. Taboo with the left.
It is always a minority that fights for freedom, because the majority are candles in the wind. We only need a minority to ensure our rights are not abolished.
Thanks for the happy picture! I did a similar "pilgrimage" to the Acropolis decades ago, but was unaware of the detailed history that you brought forth.
Read Durant. I discovered it two years ago and was shocked that I had not found it decades before. Absolutely first class in every way. I warmly recommend it to you.
Absolutely. The Founders knew this.
I understand we need to protest what’s going on in Europe but we also must be vigilant in our own country. Peaceful protest and inciting violence are not one and the same. For sure, anyone inciting violence or committing violence should be penalized.
Correct?
It’s really simple dude, you go places and cause trouble you get your ass thrown out. You don’t cause trouble you can stay. You knew that.
I think that the kind of "trouble" that should lead you to "get your ass thrown out" would be actual crimes. That's where we differ.

"I sneak into your house at 2AM"
... crime 1
"I emptied your fridge"
... crime 2
In this case, you've committed crimes. What does exercising your freedom of speech have to do with it?

Agree, but if you are a guest in this country you do not have that right
No. I think everyone should be able to say or write absolutely anything no matter who they are. (Short of inciting violence of course.)
Visa’s are invitations to visit our (or any other issuing) country. Just like an invitation to your home. They come with conditions attached tied to the purpose (e.g., tourist visas don’t permit you to work) & those conditions are explicitly spelled out in the visa.

As a guest in any country I would tread lightly on what I said. I would not presume I had the right to say anything I wanted.
There is no genocide in Gaza. Hamas has genocide against Jews and the extermination of the Jews and the state of Israel as its founding principle. just a bunch of kids and pregnant women gunned down in cold blood...but absolutely no genocide...that's good....exactly what I thought...
So do you talk to God and know who is He is "for" and who He is "against"?
Please share with us your enlightening talks with God....how lucky of you...
I am confused. Kids & women killed in cold blood, well documented that Hamas did that. Yet the tone of your post is anti IDF. Do you have verified sources (not Hamas propaganda).
Well documented that the true Triune God is NOT Allah, who is NOT Akbar.
Peaceful protest, yes. Violence cannot ever be condoned though. We need peaceful warriors, not naive warriors, strategy matters.
I have been against the Gaza Genocide before bombing even began in Gaza. I knew Genocide was coming. Yes, Hamas behave as psychopaths, so no one is spared.
100% Agree!
Are you proud of denying guests to the country -- the world's undisputed vanguard for de jure free speech -- the ability to speak as they wish if they commit no crimes?
So, you are saying free speech should only be granted to citizens?
Boo! It's endowed by the Creator! Leave, now! (Latvia or the United Kingdom would be good choices.)
We are citizens of the United States, are endowed by our creator with the right to free speech. If you’re here as a guest with a visa, granted you by the federal government, I don’t believe that to be true.
Greeks, Turks, and even those applying for US citizenship need not apply for free speech "rights". They must be children of another Creator!

You and geraldsd are such snowflakes, you consider objection to genocide or other state crime to be "assault" or "call for unrest"?
Yes
I truly think we differ more than that. After the last four years we have all learned a lot about what “finding the limits of what the law permits” means.
Only tyrants fear free speech, hence they always resort to censorship.
And the stupid liberal man gave them the right to vote
I thought Edward Bernays and his Liberty Torches did.
Censoring speech is akin to making an individual hold a beach ball under water, how long before it pops up?
Someone once stated to me that to become responsible is the first step to true freedom. To become responsible for every word that we say, how it is said? when it is said and why. And there's more than a few tyrants in these times....!🤷🏻♂️🙏🏾🙏
Because, as you know, they all vote for the stupid liberals, and thus, ruin society.
Still, dichotomous thinking is also a trap.
What did he say about stupid women voting?
Hahahaha…living dangerously…
Unfortunately, lots of stupid people vote.

FREE IS THE WORD
If the people of the world unite and act as one and tell the establishment/WEF/royals/politicians etc to F OFF free speech shall live on!
It is always a minority that fights for freedom, because the majority are candles in the wind. We only need a minority to ensure our rights are not abolished.
