Trump has opened a huge can of worms. Iran can strike oil production in the Middle East. Iran can easily attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz, which is why the US Navy, the most powerful in the world, doesn't want to escort any ships through there: they'd be sitting ducks. Europe says no way we'll send ships. If the US hits Iranian oil production, Iran will reciprocate. If US hits Iranian desalination plants, Iran will reciprocate and hit Middle Eastern desalination plants of countries providing bases to US, crippling them. There is no way in hell that America/Israel can win without boots on the ground, and boots on the ground would be a protracted disaster.

Europe says no way we'll send ships. If the US hits Iranian oil production, Iran will reciprocate. If US hits Iranian desalination plants, Iran will reciprocate and hit Middle Eastern desalination plants of countries providing bases to US, crippling them. There is no way in hell that America/Israel can win without boots on the ground, and boots on the ground would be a protracted disaster.
