Many, perhaps most children who are sexually trafficked do not survive until adulthood. Thus, the woman died. I think the idea that these women were in fact children was a bridge too far to put into a movie, even for Kubrick, but that is what I take it to mean.
9 years ago a woman came into my life (I'm a woman myself) who had been sexually trafficked starting at age 3 for two decades. I disagree that people generally have a dark side, but a surprisingly large minority of the Western population are pedophiles and sociopaths. I am not a eugenicist, I am staunchly against that, but probably about 10% of us -- those men (and complicit women -- in shocking numbers) could go, and humanity would benefit greatly.

There is much wisdom in what you write, freelearner. The real point of ‘Eyes Wide Shut’ is NOT that everyone has a dark side. Rather it is that good people cannot even imagine the evil that exists in pedophiles and others who glory in getting away with horrible crimes. Emotionally, her healing has been really remarkable but obviously she still has PTSD and limitations to what she can manage. All of this did take over my life to a huge extent for a time, and I had to find a trauma therapist because I myself got secondary PTSD from learning what had happened to her. (She's not had a therapist so I tried to help her with flashbacks by talking with her about those memories.) But I would never take it back.

I was referring to women who are aware that their husband, partner or son are raping children and they just look the other way. I find it shocking that this would *ever* happen but it happened actually a number of times during my friend's childhood. For this reason I included complicit women in my comments. By no means am I claiming violent crime is 50/50, that would be absurd.

I finally viewed Eyes Wide Shut about a year ago. I found it very tame and understated the depravity of the elites that I have discovered in my research over the past 20 years. I read Coleman's book a while back. I cannot remember all the details now, but I did not find it convincing - long on claims and light on evidence just like all the others who promulgate this (IMO) red herring. There is also considerable doubt about his claim to have worked for MI6, and reports of his abusing the trust and hopsitality of fellow "conspiracy theorists".

I am skeptical of this narrative because I have come across it multiple times and it always takes the same form - a long list of names (which carefully excludes the Jewish banking families against whom considerable evidence does exist) and claims regarding their wealth and influence. But there is never any evidence offered.

I think the easy privacy, anonymity and ease of movement in modern society makes it much simpler for those with these tendencies to escape detection, build networks and encourage each other in their aberrant behaviour. She moved to another country for 6 years living totally off the record with a friend. No name on the lease, no phone contract, no work except under the table -- she disappeared. She is now back in the country and they know it but there seems to be a ceasefire; they don't control her, she doesn't go to the police, and they don't look for her.
Emotionally, her healing has been really remarkable but obviously she still has PTSD and limitations to what she can manage. All of this did take over my life to a huge extent for a time, and I had to find a trauma therapist because I myself got secondary PTSD from learning what had happened to her. (She's not had a therapist so I tried to help her with flashbacks by talking with her about those memories.) But I would never take it back.

The present English-language gospels date back effectively to the Authorized Bible, compiled for the Stewart King James I of England in the early 17th century. The gospels of the early Church were originally written in second and third century Greek. Along with the Bible as a whole, they were translated into Latin in the fourth century, but it was then to be more than a thousand years before any English translation was made.
Bible translation was risky then, though. Fourteenth century reformer John Wycliffe was denounced as a heretic for translating the Bible into English. His books were burned. In the early 16th century, William Tyndale was strangled as a form of execution, in Belgium, and then burned, just in case he wasn’t dead, for translating the Bible into English. A little later, Miles Coverdale, a disciple of his, made another translation; and by that time the Church itself had split up quite nicely, so Coverdale’s version was accepted by the Protestant Church-but he was still a heretic in the eyes of Rome.
The problem was that as long as the printed text remained obscure (and it wasn’t just ordinary Latin; this was an horrendous form of Church Latin), as long as only the bishops could understand it, they could teach whatever on Earth they wanted. If it were translated into the languages that other people could understand and maybe read for themselves, this would pose a problem because the Church could be called to question.

I cannot remember all the details now, but I did not find it convincing - long on claims and light on evidence just like all the others who promulgate this (IMO) red herring.
