You are right to be puzzled by the dismissal of Ambati et al. based on the probability computation that finding a blast match for a 19 nt sequence is not that low. The question is, is there a plausible way in which the homology appears in a lab virus. We should think in terms of Bayes factors, comparing the probability P(FCS seq|lab) with the probability P(FCS seq|natural) of that EXACT sequence appearing in a natural virus in Wuhan. I don't have the expertise to assess the former probability, but the latter must be astronomically small. That the homology was found using a blast search is irrelevant.
Probability estimates are very difficult, especially if the integration could have involved 19ntds. Most estimates do better for small mutations. Entire "junks" are more difficult to model. The entire model of what causes recombination is incompletely understood. This is why in my article, I had to come up with a very clear analysis about the feasibility of such an event. Otherwise, it would not have been accepted.
