I entered the US Army as a rather typical naive youngster truly believing I was involved in a worthwhile, perhaps even noble, effort. When I separated 8 years later I'd come to understand the nature of the cloistered, self serving imbeciles that infest DC, and all too often the highest military ranks. Complicit corporate media is just as repulsive. It has been hard to watch all these fine young people end up maimed and dead amid DC's idiotic conflicts over the last couple decades.

Just wanton sadism. It's great that you woke up from it. I'm sorry you had to go through that. So much waste of human lives involved in this barbaric and retarded idea of war.

In the end there was only thing I did while in the Army that was absolutely worthwhile and that was serving on funeral details (an additional duty rotated among combat battalions at one of my posts). We honored those who served and, hopefully, provided their loved ones with a measure of comfort and closure.

Memorial day should include the memory of all those casualties killed by the enemy fire: haccines! Enlisting shouldn't mean signing to become human guinea pigs! Syringe fodder!

Also, memorial day should include the memory of all those dead by false flags (manufactured crisis for unspeakable purposes):

- Pearl Harbor

- Gulf of Tonkin

- 9/11

- COVID

- NATO/Ukraine

- 10/7

etc.

It's not just corruption of the top military ranks, politicians and media, it's the clockwork coordination which should raise your DEFCON to 1!

We've got a very small window of opportunity to fight or ... die (they want to murder 95% of us).

That's just an excuse for "the people's" tendency to never look at themselves. What are we doing anyway but killing others to solve problems? And what problems are they? The only problem I see is land grabs. And here we are annihilating our peers in other lands to satisfy the resource lust of billionaires.

Such a waste of his life, and all the others there and Iraq. Killed by men and women who did not see any combat, nor did their respective families, with only a very few exceptions. All for greed and self aggrandizement.

These tough soldiers died to keep our country free, now we have Liberals who want to destroy their sacrifices, we have students sleeping in tents and hating Jewish people, who did nothing to deserve this hate, Israel was attacked, now they are fighting for their very existence, not only that, they are also fighting back the terrioust to save the West from being attacked. These young students should move over to Islam and see how much they love the white people. They have been deceived, and will only wake up when it's too late to know what life is all about!!

Too simplistic on the subject of Israel. Hamas is a terrorist group and should be crushed. However, watching Dr. Feroze Sidhwa on YouTube today gives a more balanced view.

I agree that Hamas is a terrorist organization that seeks to wipe Israel off the map. I am ignorant about this situation, but I thought that Hamas is safely ensconced in an elaborate labyrinth of underground tunnels. Meanwhile, above ground are the non-combatants, including children, who are being bombed to rubble. How is this good strategy? Hamas is safe, their funding sources are intact, just the civilians are demolished. How is this going to end?

An apt war memorial.

As Libertarian Harry Browne used to say, the goal of the U.S. government's "Defense" department should be to keep us OUT of war.

May this young man rest in peace.

Pres. Bush, jr. declared the "Global War On Terror"("GWOT") almost 25 years ago. It's GLOBAL. And, in this un-Constitutional "declaration of war", "there are NO frontlines".

In other words, we are AT WAR, RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW. And it's still going on. You are NOT "kept out of war".... just sayin'!

the problem is John, no matter when a war ends, someone is alway killed just before it ends, unless it is the beginning, which it could and should be.

As I read your pithy remarks, I could not help thinking of the massive 'vaxxed' dead who were in fact slaughtered by war powers yet receive no honor, no glory, no remembrance only a unknown tomb

Several years ago we visited the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. There is a display memorializing the fallen. I spent quite a bit of time there, feeling I owed these brave people my attention and my recognition of what the world lost when they died. I think one of the hardest things is when people look back and call their sacrifice a waste. It's true, I suppose, but how do the families and the ones left disabled and broken deal with that truth?

Check out Defend the Guard legislation that folks are aiming to pass in every state so the powers-that-be are forbidden from deploying national guard troops unless Congress obeys the Constitution and passes a Congressional Declaration of War. This would have a dampening effect on their ability to wage useless foreign wars: https://bringourtroopshome.us/
