The basis for the EARLIER pause in fighting in Lebanon was that the President of Lebanon had agreed to fully mobilize the Lebanese ARMY to remove Hezbollah from the agreed buffer zone... Israel held back and wished the Lebanese Army well while watching whether the buffer area was actually successfully cleared... It wasn't and the Israeli soldier paid that price --- so then the Israelis went back in to do the job themselves... Different war so different terms, and not amenable to any EPOCH FURY negotiations....

This is correct. I believe that the ceasefire is binding on Iran, but not on Israel. Israel is very clever when it comes to ceasefires - I think they always put in a clause like this which is why they are always able to launch attacks after signing one.
Now, that makes more sense.
