I have never fully understood the hatred of Russia by the West. Russia absorbed huge losses fighting Nazi Germany. Additionally, Russia was the first force to reach Germany, ending the war. Russia was an Ally of the Western system during WW2.
Additionally, the Russian people made great strides in abandoning the Soviet system and held elections. Russia also asked to join NATO and wanted to be part of the European system, as it had the right to do so.

Based on my reading, I think Zelenskyy, who campaigned on a promise of peace with Putin, was threatened with assassination by the neo-Nazis of west Ukraine. This premise was supported by a large amount of evidence of how 1M Jews were led into the fields of W. Ukr aind gunned down by Nazi sympathizers in WW2. Z has become a dictator by necessity (like a number of dictators in history). He should have taken that 'ride' offered by the West. Perhaps he thought it was a trap. At any rate, there is no solution. Z cannot stand down, because it means death to himself and family.
Yes, there was also a war-ending agreement, the Minsk agreement. Western leaders, especially Boris Johnson, told Zelensky not to honor it. Later, we hear Germany's Merkel explain that they never intended to honor it; it was meant to buy time for Ukraine to arm.
The West does not hate Russia. The West (and especially Europe) fears Russia based on their history of aggression and conquest. One would think that they also fear MAD. Maybe they know something.

Unlike the EU, the USSR was not aggregated peacefully and it has not been maintained peacefully. Post war East Germany is a good example. Russia becomes increasingly irrelevant and powerless. Maybe the time will come when we can all get along peacefully.

The paychecks and retirement plans of NATO are too important to the members, so they continue to demonize Russia. Peace is in the hands of a few militaristic shotheads, or Neocons. Videos are available of Lindsey Graham, for instance, praising the deaths of Russians. These are the people promoting wars through their lying propaganda.
I think you need to watch Colonel Pete Blaber and Todd Wood on their Common Sense podcast. The situation with Russia was more complicated than just NATO. The Russians in Donbas were being slaughtered by the Azov prior to Russia entering Ukraine.

It's interesting that I was just reading an analysis of the Ukraine war in the Slavlander Chronicles blog. I thought he summed up the reality succinctly. He writes: "The Trumps and the Bidens and the Clintons and the Putins and the Assads and the Zelenskys and the Ayatollahs are just mafia clans. They are criminal syndicates with hunting/predation grounds that they feel they are entitled to. What we are seeing is a battle between criminal syndicates for looting rights. Based on my reading, I think Zelenskyy, who campaigned on a promise of peace with Putin, was threatened with assassination by the neo-Nazis of west Ukraine. Z has become a dictator by necessity (like a number of dictators in history). He should have taken that 'ride' offered by the West. Perhaps he thought it was a trap. It's interesting that I was just reading an analysis of the Ukraine war in the Slavlander Chronicles blog. I thought he summed up the reality succinctly. He writes: "The Trumps and the Bidens and the Clintons and the Putins and the Assads and the Zelenskys and the Ayatollahs are just mafia clans. Based on observation, recollection, and the history of American actions re: Ukraine in this century, this war, egged into reality by the Biden admin., has achieved nothing except to create yet another surprise dictator, Zelenskyy, and of course to rid Ukraine of an entire generation of young men. The British government does not want to solve its own internal muslim migrant problem. It wants to start a war with Russia to bleed its people poor for their military industrial leaders to become richer to live a life style where they can ignore the migrant problem.
Pretty short-sighted. Do they think those Muslims will allow British leaders to escape once they seize power?
