Also for those who might need it, liposomal C can be taken orally in comparable high doses with, reportedly, very good results, perhaps approaching the effect of intravenous. I have used it up to about 20g per day for all manner of conditions with good results. It must be liposomal though because humans tolerate/absorb only about 2g per day orally of straight ascorbic.

I have been experimenting with vitamins, since the 1960s. I used 5000 mg of Vitamin C daily without a problem for at over a year and had no problems. I have been using a brand with bioflavonoids 3000 mg daily for many years. Recently, I was guided to stop; and only use natural raw fruit and vegetables. I have no health problems, because I stay with my specific beneficial foods. I learned back in 1976 to stop dairy, which created a tumor (excess protein-fat); and in 1988 I eliminated honey(excess carbs). I was putting it in too many cups of herb tea daily and it created an ugly bulbous tumor with spikes coming out of it... above my right breast. My children were horrified, when they saw it; and urged me to have it removed. Twelve years earlier, I got rid of the first tumor by simply eliminating the dairy, so I examined my diet and realized i was using lots of honey. Today, the only sweetener I use is Kal Stevia liquid...I have been using it over 20 years. No health concerns going on 92!

Hear ya, I use Vitamin C crystal with baking soda, it becomes Ascorbate and very well tolerate in the human body, and you can take at high doses !!!!!

Actually, I’ve understood that the absorption level is dependent onn the individual, and what you don’t absorb, you just urinate away. You can normally guide yourself as to your personal tolerance, as an ‘intolerable’ dosage will be seen in your bowels.

Hey friend! I just asked this question below, thank you for answering it here!!

I’m aware of the liposomal, are you saying more of it can be absorbed ?

Do you have a dosage per pound or per kilogram or just go up to 20 g for anyone?

I’m experiencing a condition I want to use this for myself.

That is what I have read. Straight (non-liposomal) causes the runs in most over 2g per day. A friend who is very sensitive in this regard can gobble many a day without these common effects. I would - personally - feel confident taking as big a dose as the intravenous (the suggested 1g to 1kg body weight ratio) but I have not yet. If I could afford it I would take more - or if desperate! Also if interested, the new pharma drug therapy for (some forms of) cancer is basically the combo of 5g C plus 50mg of Vitamin K2 (very high dose, few makers, Life Extension does though - and where they use mk3 but where other mk's might work too. Mk 4 and 7 commonly sold forms of K2) daily oral. Think its called Apatone.

I take 5 gm daily in am, first thing, on empty stomach. But I suggest start slow on 1 gm and watch results. You may get BM shortly and may be explosive if inexperienced gut. Eventually 1 gm won’t cut it, so go up to 2 gm, then 3 gm and up. Suggest nonbuffered (if gut issues or ulcer type issues then go buffered). Some suggest ascorbic acid powder in filtered water. I get my info from my naturopath and personal research!

5g non-liposomal?

susan molendyk's avatar

Liposomal is the delivery system used. From what I read, this means you can take a lower dose just because its more bioavailable in the gut. Start low and go slow if you aren't under a professional. Taking 5000 mg is not dangerous as people take twice as much as that just to get a bowel movement. That's called a vitamin C flush. Some people start high and then go down to a more modest maintenance dose. Its non toxic, antioxidant and basically flushes the system of toxins, viruses, etc.

In 1996, my husband was diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma (tonsil) with metastasis (Stage 4), by the docs at Dana Farber, and told he had a 20% chance to survive 2 years. When he made the decision to forego all conventional treatment, not only were we penalized by having to pay for all treatments out-of-pocket- (we had “excellent” conventional health insurance, at the time that would have paid for a radical neck re-section, chemo and radiation), but we were also snickered at (“The immune system and diet have nothing to do with cancer…”), and treated condescendingly by attending practitioners. We had to travel to NYC (from Maine) to find an MD, (hematologist, oncologist, pharmacologist), who could guide us using non-toxic modalities. (We found this doc by using the services of Pat McGrady in his "Can Help" service.) The first thing he told us when we entered his office was, “Please don’t tell anyone where you are coming; if the FDA knows I have success treating cancer, they will shut me down.” (He was a protege of Burzinsky, whose offices were being raided by FDA regularly.)

Dr. Chu Fong - (since deceased)- prescribed 50k mg. of IV Vit C, 3 x's weekly, and insisted we do the treatments at home. "You are a nurse; I'll write an order for you to do these at home; your husband needs to rest, not travel to NY." (No one was doing IVC in 1996 in our neck of the woods....)

We did this protocol x 1 year. We followed our 'progress' by doing monthly AMAS tests that were just being developed by students at MIT. Hubby would have his blood drawn, pack it in dry ice, and drive to the Fenway apartment where the budding scientists lived. "The 'lab' was in their apartment and you didn't feel quite confident that they knew what they were doing as you walked through Burger King wrappers on the floor." But they did.

Very long story short–Doug survived the death sentence, using all natural approaches, and is vital to this day. (And when he later visited those practitioners who had doubted his desired approach, they took notes as he told his story.)

Hello ! This is a very interesting topic. If you are interested, I wrote a very lengthy article about the history of this therapy, the debates, the first ideas of Linus Pauling and the precise description of the Fenton reaction that leads to the endogeneous generation of the hydroxyl radical, leading to the death of the cancer cell. If you check my substack history, you will see that I made it open access for 2 to 3 weeks. This post is under a permanent paywall now. You will find a personal word from Leonard John Hoffer, the person who did all the vitamin C trials on cancer patients in the last decade. Pre Ice age humans produced 3grams Vitamin C internally with another 3-6g from fruit and vegetables. Serum Vitamin C depletes the bloods insulating properties, so those that were capable of switching off Vitamin C production were more able to survive the cold. Bioflavinoids work with Vitamin C and is recycled by Vitamin E; sourced from oil containing foods.

I hope everyone is aware of the Dr. Paul Marik vitamin C protocol to treat sepsis.. Incredibly effective if instituted immediately and followed with the correct dosing and circumstances. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27940189/

(can also be found at IMA OR FLCCC) Of course the majority of hospitals refuse to use it. His COVID protocol also uses high dose vitamin C. It is good stuff and thank you for the article. Now that I have basically lost all faith in conventional medicine I realize they have been demonizing C and D for decades. Tragic

Dr. Fred Klenner claimed he could kill any bacteria and virus infection if he could get high doses of vitamin c into the patient early. His motto was to treat while you are waiting for a diagnosis. Dr. Marik advises the same for sepsis. Studies that tried to disprove his treatment waited a long time before starting the vitamin c protocol.

And do you know who has known this for a LONG LONG time? The homeopaths and naturopaths. I know someone who has been taking high dose IV injections of Vit C for years rather than the noxious, toxic chemo the "experts" inject in the well-known cancer clinics. This is why we simply must turn more toward alternative medicine where they still believe in cures.

Those who are dealing with cancer, or have a loved one who is, may also want to look into the work of Dr. Thomas Seyfried, PhD, a cancer researcher.

In this interview, he shares that:

- Cancer has been proven to not be genetic in origin.

- NOT feeding the cancer is key. Cancer feeds on carbs, so a very low to no carb diet (sugar & starch) while consuming natural, unoxidized fats (avoid liquid oils) while consuming enough high quality protein & fatty acids to support the healthy cells & tissues & immune system is essential.*

- Periodic water only fating is also helpful-but MUCH easier to do once one has 'kicked the carbs' and switched to burning fat for fuel, instead: nutritional ketosis. Aside from cancer, there are numerous health benefits to being in nutritional ketosis.

- Certain specific medicines can be an important part of overcoming cancer, including one with a far better safety profile -after decades of use and billions of doses- than Tylenol, or aspirin.

* 'WHO says meat causes cancer?' Dr. G.Ede. MD shares that there is no actual proof that meat or animal fat cause cancer, or any harm to the human body. See also video of the same title on YouTube.

I know there has been loads of information, certainly since covid, about Vitamin D3 and other supplements that are effective, but I am glad that some attention is finally being given to Vitamin C. If I had to choose just one supplement to take, it would be Vitamin C. Obviously, I’m not taking a pharmacological dose of C, but have been taking it for years. When I feel the first sign of a cold or flu coming on, I dose myself with 5+ (or more) grams of C, and blast it right out of my system. Linus Pauling, of course, was discussing this years ago. And I was also fortunate enough to read Norman Cousins’ book Anatomy of an Illness years ago as well, where he survived a potentially fatal disease through pharmacological Vitamin C, laughter, and staying out of hospitals!

Nice summary, Nic. Synergisms with IV vitamin C (IVC) therapy (e.g.,ozone, doxycycline, vitamin K2 or K3) need to be fully exploited in order to avoid chemoresistance (cancer cells becoming resistant to the ascorbate), which invariably happens with IVC. The key point that has not been mentioned is that it IVC is so minimally toxic ("nontoxic" is an incorrect descriptor) that one can take it daily at the proper cytotoxic dose until the cancer disappears. So for example, I know of 3 cases of stage 4 cancers (colorectal, breast and prostate) that went into remission after 60-plus CONSECUTIVE days of infusions. Learned about this at the Riordan clinic in KS.

Thanks for this very important reminder, known for many decades... Linus Pauling was having difficulties with regaining his 'scientific' respect after he started to publicize the powers of vit C, very similar to Dr. Marik who started to apply it to his covid patients, and for which he lost his license... And if you ask anyone in many if not all hospitals for VitC IV the response will be 'NO', in most cases, maybe becasue no insurance company covers the few $ worth shot.

The fact, that almost all animals produce their own vitamin C, except for humans and few more exceptions, in which the conversion gene was SILENCED, is very intriguing. I wrote two posts in regard to that topic, all for free for everyone interested:

Here in little NZ around 6 years ago a man was in hospital with hairy cell leukaemia and swine flu. The hospital literally wanted to shut off his life support machine expecting him to die. Family wanted them to try IV vitamin C. Declined. So they got legal support to make them try Vit C. They began giving him liposomal c orally but very half heartedly & in small doses. The family themselves upped his doses. He came off the machine eventually, left the hospital & returned to normal work on his farm!! They would've killed him!! The white coats don't want you successfully healing with vitamins ... Big Pharma would take huge dents in their profits. (This was surprisingly highlighted in MSM television ... doco at the link)
