I'd like to know if most of the people experiencing deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms are having these issues because of the white fibrous clots? And what is the prognosis for someone who has experienced this? Do they recover completely? Do the have further issues with clots after time has passed? If vascular surgeons and endovascular specialists get to the patient in time, then the clots can be physically removed with a scalpel or flexible catheters that suck, scrape, or lasso the clot and pull it out. Even the best clot-busting drugs like Tissue Plasminogen Activator (TPA) DO NOT break down these tough, fibrous clots. That's why they need to be physically removed BEFORE the person has a stroke or heart attack.
