The Iranians are liars and masters of deception. They smile in your face and will stab you in the back as soon as you turn around. There were no “deals”, just another spin on the merry go round to give them more time to develop a nuclear weapon. The attack on Iran was the right decision. The UK is truly lost with their current leadership and they are becoming worse than China or North Korea regarding freedom of speech.

AwakeNotWoke's avatar

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi publicly stated that Iran proposed mechanisms to guarantee "no nuclear weapons," but U.S. negotiators rejected it because the Americans were too low IQ, i.e., they "didn't grasp the technical details."

That is Iranian negotiators offered a way to prove they were not developing nuclear weapons, but it was deemed too "sophisticated" (or too technically complex) for the Americans to understand.

Araghchi posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Factual knowledge matters. Case 1: Iran's proposal to ensure NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS was dismissed because US counterparts didn't grasp the technical details."

This statement appeared in multiple news outlets around March 13-14 2026

In some cross-national.comparisons of mean IQ the Iranians, like the Communist Chinese, North Koreans and Russians score far, far higher than Americans so this seems at least plausible.

Larry McDonald's avatar

Oh yes, you’re absolutely right. The Americans are “too low IQ” compared to the rest of the world. That’s why America is the richest, strongest and most advanced nation on earth. Meanwhile, the countries you mentioned have the worst living standards and human rights violations on earth. Tens of thousands of Iranians have been killed by their own government and you want to claim they’re smarter? Please get off your high horse because your gaslighting isn’t working.

SMH. “Appearing in news outlets” does not support your contention. Iran is being battered and is still unwilling to give up their nuclear ambitions. Many prior administrations have been fooled by “negotiations” and non existent “inspections.” (Not a fan of the war, but to claim that a deal could have been struck seems very shortsighted.)

You are describing Israel and their diabolical behavior in the last 6 decades. Fooling US presidents and its people to do their bidding.

Larry McDonald's avatar

Yes of course how could I forget? Let’s blame the Jews for living in the Middle East while Iran publicly states they will wipe the country off the map? You mean that country? Why should they worry while Iran proxies like Hamas and Hezbollah do their bidding to terrorize the Jewish people? So finally Israel and the US do something about it and you want to complain? It only took them 47 years to finally do something and if it wasn’t for Trump it wouldn’t have happened. Iran had plenty of chances to stand down and now it’s too late.

Israel dragged US into this. Trump was foolish enough to fall for it.

You are "falling for" the propaganda.

Aside from the fact that you don’t negotiate with terrorists, or the fact that Iran has broken every ‘deal’ over the past 47 years, it’s interesting that Powell and the Guardian come out with this information, particularly as President Trump has already exposed the City of Landon’s/Loy’s involvement.in attempting to keep the conflict going. Next, Powell will say that Boris Johnson didn’t crater the Ukraine/Russia deal when he went to visit Zelensky.

Daniel Wirt's avatar

Jan, you don’t negotiate with terrorists? Correct, you don’t negotiate with Zionists. And no, Iran has not “broken every ‘deal’ over the past 47 years” —- that is overtly delusional. But glad to see that you recognize Perfidious Albion for what it is —- perfidious. But your attempt to deflect blame from Trump for this war of aggression is bankrupt.

Another one of Iran’s “deals”? One they have no intention of honorably upholding? Another opportunity for us to drop pallets of cash on them, only to have them stab us in the back later? That kind of deal? The kind where they fund Hezbollah with the cash we send them? Deal? Or appeasement?

Dr. Hubris's avatar

" One they have no intention of honorably upholding? "

I guess we will never know, because we always break our word and attack while negotiating... to the "untrained" eye, looks almost like WE don't want peace... just oil.

...but please go on, Girl... you tell us!

Daniel Wirt's avatar

It was Trump who unilaterally ditched the JCPOA (which Iran was in full compliance with).

Powell was probably also surprised when Lucy offered to hold the football for Charlie Brown one more time, promising not to pull it away this time. You have to be incredibly naive or purposely obtuse to believe that the Iranians were actually going to make a deal to give up their nukes.

Virtually everyone in the mideast knows you cannot trust deals with the mullahs or Islamic Council. How many times do we need to learn that lesson? Kent is as big a jerk as Jonathan Powell.

Dr. Hubris's avatar

... I guess this is why we attacked them while "negotiating"... TWICE? Because WE are trustworthy?

TruthMonster - by John Anthony's avatar

No. We attacked during endless negotiations because we finally wised up to the reality negotiations to Iran are merely armament opportunities. The Islamic Council just opened the Hormuz Straits. Not because of negotiations, because Trump threatened Khag Island depots.

Dr. Hubris's avatar

... and I guess we are "winning"... big...

Right, Mr. Monster, Sir?

TruthMonster - by John Anthony's avatar

Well Doctor, you just switched the discussion, so first the negotiation. A negotiation between two people who ultimately want peace looks much different from one in which your adversary has sworn your annihilation. To you and I and most reasonable people we negotiate in good faith. But the Islamic Guard Council only sees negotiation as a preamble to destruction. As for who is winning, the operable term is "winning". This is not over and only then will we know who "won" and what that neans to differing people. IMO, Trump is doing what is necessary only because we have failed for 47 years to address the issues including murder of Americans. Now Trump has to clean up the mess and it's not pretty..Who will win? Pracrically, I imagine the U.S. and the American people will win. Time will tell. Best to you!

This reminds me of an old joke:

"- Why aren't you playing chess with your friend anymore?

- Well, would you play chess with someone who gets angry when loosing, curses and threatens with physical violence?

- No!

- Well, neither would he!"

Best to you too, my friend :)...

The US couldn't go along with a reasonable agreement with Iran, thus the reason Trump didn't even try.

A non-war solution was never in the cards for the US. It's obvious who really runs US foreign policy.

The Iranian government lies, and Joe Kent did not think Iran was a threat. I thank him for his service, am sad that he lost his wife to ISIS, but am glad he resigned.

Sheryl's avatar

Oh yeah, because we can trust that Iran would keep any deal! Garbage!

Is it wide-eyed naivete or just another manifestation of chronic TDS? Hard to tell.

Why the Hell is Kushner in these meetings at all?

Mothertrucker's avatar

I was gonna say the same thing. Why does Trump send Bibi’s lackeys (to put it mildly) a real estate developer Witkoff and investor Kushner to basically negotiate for Israel? I answered my own question.

Evil Harry's avatar

I'm so hacked off with Trump right now.

I have defended him against the liberal bullshit and believed him to be a good man trying to do the right thing.

Now he has utterly destroyed any legacy he may have had and seems oblivious to that fact.

The Israelis must have made him an offer he was unable to refuse, as the alternative appears to be just abject stupidity.

Mothertrucker's avatar

Same here. I thought he served us well during his first term even though he was constrained by all that legal hoopla. Now I believe it was all staged theater to get/keep us divided. And it doesn’t matter who gets selected, I mean elected, they’re all different feathers of the same bird with the eventual desired outcome.

The only thing corroborated by the Guardian is the British / Royals’ / Bankers’ strategy of keeping countries in conflict with each other while they pilfer the resources from said lands. Too bad neither you nor Joe Kent (who I otherwise respect greatly) sees this or take it into account.
