Long time MA resident. The insanity has moved exponentially in the last 5 years. I can't think of a MA rep or senator you would allow to walk your dog as they are too incompetent never mind govern,
I have a friend I grew up with in Pennsylvania, who has lived in Boston for 50 years. During the pandemic, I had to tell him to stop commentating on my Facebook page because he was so rabid. Must be something in the water!
I have lived my whole life in Massachusetts and I truly believe it’s the educational system that’s at fault for the behavior of voters here . From a young age your “ expected” to be a Democrat + if not your an outcast in your own family ! There r Conservatives -Republicans -Libertarians but never enough because of the Dem. Voting machine ( yes Dems stuff ballot boxes here )
Me too. And I fell for it all. My Dad was a Republican and all 4 of his kids got brainwashed to believe Dem = good guys and Republican = bad guys. And not that I think Republicans are perfect either. I consider myself independent for now but if my Dad were still here I would tell him he was right about everything! If only we could have honest elections in this state. Lots of towns have dominion machines too. What we really need is good people to step up and run. Most of these bozos run unopposed for years.
dems suck...they don't think right..they seem to Hate America and AMERICANS...Drain the Swamp...Flush Twice...Drive a stake through the heart of the dem party
Its called Voter Fraud. The Deep State installs who they want. CA may very well have thrown out all of their career, corrupt politicians but the powers that be know how to keep them installed into power. Just assume elections are fair and reflect the will of the people - they want you to buy into this comfort zone of free and fair elections.
Yes. We literally have NO IDEA who gets the most votes. All we know is who is proclaimed the winner. As a retired computer guy, I can assure you that there is no way to verify any election which allows computers to be involved in either casting or counting the votes. The only way to have honest elections is to have paper, hand marked, ballots which are counted in view of witnesses.
The common complaint is that "that would take too long!". Of course that is not true. India has a similar system and the count is finished in a day or so. Meanwhile, our "modern, computerized" method takes weeks!
Somewhere West of 128 it changes. Probably a bit gradual, gains strength. It's not the big cities. It's all those small towns, with a few exceptions. Inside 128 Boston (and Cambridge) rule the roost.
(If you, the reader, come from here, you get '128'. For everyone else, it's I-95)
One party rule with rigged elections (only 1 county uses paper ballots). Legislature meets in secret, doesn't hold hearings, rare for a roll call vote, has a rule saying they can ignore the rules, refuses to let the State Auditor in to do her job, despite 72% (there's the rural MA speaking) of voters in 2024 approving the ballot initiative to require (voice of the citizens speaking) the legislature be audited by the state-wide elected State Auditor.
Governor stymies FOIA requests, spends billions on pet projects like illegal invasion migrant shelters. Makes moves to further her auditioning effort for a position (AG?) in Washington under a Democrat regime. Has a Transportation Secretary who wants to tax by toll every mile of major highway in MA. Signed an 'emergency order' filled to the brim with civil rights violations (c135 Acts of 2024) 71 days after signing the actual law. Where was the 'emergency' if it took 71 days 'to review the law' after, signing it into law?
This is in line with the afore-mentioned ballot initiative to audit the legislature being brushed aside byBeacon Hill.
So.... This is where the Congressional delegation comes from, this one-party rule. They just wait their turn. When the opening happens in the Congressional delegation, it is someone's 'turn' to get the job.
John Leake asked the question, you pinpointed where the problem comes from, I'm just expanding on it as John Leake has a national audience many of whom will not have much knowledge of MA politics.
MA is the 'nanny state' morphed into totalitarian (communist) rule by one party.
And... I havent touched on the out-of-state million$ ready to flow in to keep MA and the politicians the corrupt system spawns, the beacon of totalitarian one-party rule in the once Constitutional republic.
Biotech; pharma; healthcare and higher ed make up a large portion of Boston economy. All receiving and relying on enormous amounts of federal funding. Will be interesting to see what changes next four years.
All the federal funding creates an artifical market which either distorts or incapacitates true price discovery.
The federal government, as with any government, produces nothing. It relies on wealth transfer from the citizens to its coffers. Then it chooses winners and losers.
I would have liked to read the linked article, however it is impossible to read the privacy clauses, user agreement, etc, before setting up an account at Masslive without being forced to first disable ad blockers, therefore not allowing potential subscribers to know the terms behind the account before subscribing.
Essentially: "Trust us, we'll come clean later, after we've captured you're information for resale" .
They are not hopeless, they are controlled by the money that got them elected. They do not represent the people in their districts, they represent the money that runs the government and they are acting accordingly. Everything is running as designed, hopefully not for long.
Unfortunately, the people I know personally who live in Massachusetts are pretty much fine with their elected officials, and their doctors, too. As far as I can tell (I never ask) most are going on jab number 6, 7, 8 ,or so. It's total madness. I used to adore Massachusetts. Now you couldn't pay me to live there. That said, there's no lack of nuttiness where I live now. And every state has all types of people in it.
Steve S— I can't say that hasn't occurred to me, and several times a day. I don't wish suffering on anyone, but that taking several "experimental" "vaccines" is an action that has consequences, and a lot of those consequences involve suffering. Many of the people I know took the jabs appear to be fine, but a number whom I know took the jabs are already dead, or clearly on the way. The saddest thing is, most still don't see a problem with going in for their checkups, as if they were some sort of automobile, and doing whatever the mechanic, ahem, doctor says. You could tell them the doctor is getting kickback on the "vaccines," you could show them the documentation, they wouldn't believe it. I quit trying to say anything to them back in 2022. They're still reading the NYT, God help them.
Well said, except the part where you virtue signaled “I don’t wish suffering on anyone”. Considering the conciseness of your statement, it was unnecessary except to point out the slight degree of liberalism most use at one time or another asking coyly to beg their pardon.
Just the same, thanks for the comment which takes us back six decades to the earnest beginnings of my Boomer adolescence when the real government run educational systems and the wonder of the “innocent” TV programming of an unprecedentedly massive, naturally groupthink generation were seen by every nefarious entity already in government and academia as a perfect fertile soil to plant both the seeds of hate America factions and those who’s arrogance toward it’s great potential took it upon themselves to sell it off first at home, and with the advent of Hollywood cultural revolutionary power and coming technology began collaboration with the nefarious global minded abroad.
All of which six decades later had the middle classes trapped somewhere between the historic old South Democrat Plantation Party and the Old New England Hierarchal and serfdom minded.
In the words of the high level Communist KGB agent that defected to Canada, Yuri Bezmenov in 1985 told America it was his job to turn the West, especially focusing on the naive liberals who love to virtue signal to gain favor in conversation, to turn them into a homogenized mass of useful and United idiots.
The Democrats, having taken over unionized labor took care of the “wink and nod part of those idiots. In his closing remarks, Bezmenov said that the propaganda method of demoralization had already worked beyond all expectations on Americans (Boomers), especially in academia, “that even if you took them by the hand and showed them proof to the contrary, pointed it out, they would not believe you until the boot hits their necks”.
In my opinion as a Nam combat veteran I believe this propaganda worked so well because even during the intentionally tumultuous 1960’s when university youth made Marx popular on campuses from Berkeley to Columbia slandering America and anyone in uniformed service to America, the Boomers had been gifted by their parents such a great degree of freedom and security, it was easy to convince them their programmed arrogance was pride in America.
I knew when I came home from Nam by the slander of our effort to push back on three other Communist countries driving the N. Vietnam Regular Army down into the South and appeasing it that something very ominous was already here in America.
Elwood R. Bernat— I remember those days. I think you're right, that a lot more was going on to undermine the US at home than most people ever guessed, then or now.
About your saying I make a "virtue signal" to say, "I don't wish suffering on anyone"— I can see how, from one lens, that could be taken as a virtue signal. That gave me pause, and I thank you for pointing that out. However, there are other lenses; this is, after all, a public comment that may be read by people who have taken multiple injections themselves. I stand by it.
Personally, I hope vaccines are ultimately exposed for all of the harms & deaths they have caused. After reading, "Turtles All The Way Down", "Dissolving Illusions", & "Crooked: Man-Made Disease Explained", there is no question in my mind that they are inherently dangerous.
I’m embarrassed to admit I’m from Massachusetts and mortified by the politicians in this state. I haven’t voted for any of them. At this point the state is so far gone that re-locating seems to be the only logical option for anyone with common sense beliefs.
If you have time, start attending legislative hearings on bills you care about and you'll hear from people you can agree with...I was so touched when one testifier addressed the other testifiers and said (after someone said they'd have to relocate - again), "please don't leave us here, stay and fight!" People do care, we're just the minority.
They’re simply corrupted shills for the pharmaceutical industry, and who know who else in the Blob. Congress does NOT serve the people. It’s become a greedy monster. Just one example…note all the things Congress did NOT do during the Covid19 debacle. And, what DID they do to protect our Constitutional rights? Not one damn thing.
They are not the only ones! The new age religion climbed out of "cultural marxism," became dialectic secular humanism, political correctness, then wokism. IT WAS ALWAYS A RELIGION SHIELDED AS SUCH TO ENABLE IT TO BE TAUGHT TO SCHOOL CHILDREN and I know there is a hot place in hell for John Dewey, and his crowd.
Massachusetts Senators are beyond help but Maine is just pathetic. We have Agus King so-called “Independent” but he Caucasus and votes with the Democrats. Then there’s bewildering, befuddling Susan Collins. She votes for every Biden Cabinet appointee but votes for some Trump/Republican choices. Complaining of needing to be ”convinced” or outright grumbling her NOs. She complains that President Trump needs to get the Senate (come to her appropriations committee) to vote for his govt changes and firings due to their gross negligence and outright fraud, yet SHE has been on this committee for twenty years. Apparently, blind to and fecklessly ignoring all the fraud of that time. So…why would anyone come before her and the others? Don’t even get me started on the absolute abomination of a Democrat Governor we have here. It’s only been in the last year that she relinquished her emergency powers and restrictions from her power loving grip. She tries to copy everything California does, yet we have no industry here, no corporate power center, no money. We are a welfare state dependent on Federal dollars to function. Maine has acquired net zero but it’s not with energy it’s with its economy. Yet, while locals and vets live in 1970’s trailers in -20 winters she’s building free housing for illegal immigrants.
So, Massachusetts isn’t the only hotbed of loser politicians.
I think that Federal Reserve building in Boston emits some kind of subliminal messages like in the movie They Live. Just a fantasy I had while staring at that buildings giant spire on the top of it. I live in Texas and I always tell people in liberal cities some of my Texas past times. “That’s illegal” or “I can’t believe you would say that in public.” I mean irony is our fuel these days it seems. Something in the water and lack of sunlight is something I think about.

I think it's Boston, possibly the center of the universe.
Rural Massachusetts isn't that way.

As a resident, I could not agree more. I also believe there is an enormous amount of fraud in maintaining the status quo.

Unfortunate.
Anywhere near a college is like that - look around very strange
Those are the towns which form the exception to "Rural Massachusetts isn't that way."
They are not hopeless, they are controlled by the money that got them elected. They do not represent the people in their districts, they represent the money that runs the government and they are acting accordingly. Everything is running as designed, hopefully not for long.

Going on jab no. 6,7 and 8 means a lot of entrenched regional liberalism will be dying out, and leaving an opportunity for new thinking…

Unfortunately, many people in Massachusetts seemed to be overly trusting of “ the authorities.”
It’s almost a kind of worship of credentials, like medical degrees or law degrees, and politicians and ivy covered buildings.
Many ailing folks should have paid homage to the power of common sense, and especially doing research on the jab back in 2021, before they took it.
nutty everywhere is right. Think washington state. It's now my mission to unseat both tone deaf and pharma sell-outs Murray and Cantwell !
Send them more! Perhaps with cold chain equipment, too. Gotta be sure they're efficacious.
Embarassing to say I live in Wokachusetts and it's so blue that I'm not sure it will ever change.
