This is not in defense of Trump but he is not calling the shots. Like 95% of politicians he is a puppet. The higher the office you reach the more compromised the individual. You know the few good ones by their fate- either killed, or if lucky to remain alive then seriously sidelined.
Perhaps Trump's greatest gift to us is that he has made it plainly obvious that we are a captured nation and that Netanyahu is the lead representative of the occupying force.

So far the situation seems to be not enough reaching on the part of Persians who want their nation freed from Islamic occupation. They simply lack the weapons to overthrow tyranny.
The Strait was closed because the US attacked Iran. Every war model had warned that if Iran were attacked, the first casualty would be shipments out of Hormuz. Nobody should be surprised by that development, and I'm sure the Pentagon generals explained it to Trump.
Pakistan wanted nukes because India has them. This goes for Iran. Netenyaho has been preaching that he wants Iran destroyed or subjugated for decades. The logical response from Iran would be to acquire nukes too.
It's really important to look further back in time to understand the core reasons countries act in their own survival. But political propaganda uses only recent history to spew its lies.
It's all because men think people should rule over other people. And notice these are all men we're talking about. And even if one were to throw in the odd woman's name who was a tyrant, it wouldn't matter because that's the aberration to the pattern, it is not the pattern.

There's always someone to blame. Catholics blamed Protestants; Christians blamed Muslims; different sects of Muslims blamed each other. The army blamed the Indians; the Indians blamed the white man. I could write this for hours. It's shallow, and it's whom we hate de jour. Tomorrow it will be someone else; it doesn't matter anyway; it's all Putin's fault. The French woman still won't marry the German man; biases are deep and last for centuries. The Germans hate Italians and on and on. In World War I, the heads of State that had a hand in starting that silly war were all Queen Victoria's grandchildren. Probably issues from incest had something to do with it, but even families can't stop blowing each other up. And, if you look into each side, they all seem to have some reason to go to war; some injustice was done to them ages ago. So it goes; it never ends.
If you go back far enough, you can clearly see the West abused Iran; they don't forget in Iran, and the West is never taught the history, it would mess with their propaganda.
So look, you can blame whomever you want, but that doesn't stop war. It encourages the generation until the country is so far in debt it fails.

John Mearsheimer is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago. He graduated from West Point and holds a PhD in political science from Cornell University.
Mearsheimer has written extensively on security issues and international politics.

I've often wondered if the WWI combatants that met on the battlefield in a Christmas Eve futbol game, and together sang hymns to their common Savior, would have agreed to a truce amongst themselves, and pledged to march in reverse to their countries and conduct war on the entities that thrust them into their demonic combat environments, the world perhaps could have ended war forever. But I guess the Rothschilds, Warburgs et al continue to have their periodic sport to purge humanity. It must amuse them, and in a strange way us too.

I do not understand what is meant by this. It seems like a typo or that a word or two is missplaced. Are you saying that your friend believes that Hitler's government was aware that Napoleon lost but went ahead anyway just as today's German government is aware of the previous failures but think the third time's gonna be the charm?
I wonder if we focus too much on the men who are the face of the wars.
What about the industrial weapons manufacturers, and the financiers of war? Could it be that the machine that *actually* moves us into constant wars is made up of people who we will never hear about or even know their names? Since war is such a constant throughout history, it seems like it’s probably less about the ‘one’ leader, and more about a silently moving entity that’s slowly but steadily building behind the scenes. And if that’s correct, it probably cannot be stopped unless it’s first identified, then widely understood by the public, and then finally somehow dismantled… which judging by history, may be impossible. For certain it’s improbable.
Rather than "flawed intelligence about weapons of mass destruction," my understanding of the history is that Cheney's people faked the intelligence.
I think the recurring pattern is one of hubris, the American version of which is dim-witted arrogance.
