Although there are different viewpoints and opinions about the motives behind the USA's military actions (no war has been declared), i.e., numerous reasons about Iran, even though they change daily, oil, Israel, China, Russia, petro dollars, military spending, Islamic fundamentalism, expansion of empire, etc.
I will put forward an idea for you to consider: With aggressors, war is always about power and control over one’s own people, and maintaining one's position, not who the enemy is. For example, Hitler’s ongoing invasions, however impractical. The other choice, ironically, is that of Stalin, who would have to turn internally to keep control by murdering his own people.
I would say in the USA, in almost every war undertaken or act of empire by those in power was an effort to destroy the Republic (internal opposition) and do away with the Constitution, which becomes pretty much accomplished by WWI by Woodrow Wilson. (See quote)

John Mearsheimer is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science at the University of Chicago. He graduated from West Point and holds a PhD in political science from Cornell University.
Mearsheimer has written extensively on security issues and international politics.
Among his seven books, The Tragedy of Great Power Politics won the Joseph Leopold Book Prize and has been translated into many languages.
His other works include The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy and The Great Delusion: Liberal Ideals and International Realities.

War is good for wealthy people. Usually.
This may take a while to absorb but we are living in a mind atmosphere where we go against our most imperative biological function. We don't even talk about it. We accept things this way, the "way it always was and is". This mindset is an aberration of the flow of nature. Go in the flow with nature, and none of this would be happening. The species (humans) totally accept that killing each other is A OK. So we get what we see now and it has metastasized. We of course cannot keep going like this. It is my theory that pedophilia is the social symptom of the fact that humans kill their own kind intentionally and even wantonly. Cause and effect. Simple. Please notice all the ones you mentioned are men. All our perspectives have been set out and designed only by men. Women go along unfortunately and the female perspective has been almost totally wiped. We cannot get clarity looking at the world through only one eye! The entire terrain is defective because we kill our own kind. We use killing as a solution not just in wars but in dealing with pests, or anything else that gets in our way. This is male thinking exclusively. Men have the brawn and they have imposed it on everything. But that's not what humans are here for. They completely miss the plot and insert their own plot. I'm not against men, I am against lopsidedness, imbalance, violence as a solution to anything. When we start thinking in terms of sovereignty and free speech, violence will become a rare thing. Hard to imagine but that's because of the matrix layer that has stenciled our minds to see the realm in the way we do. Humans enslave themselves. They fund killing and enslavement. Who here is not paying taxes? Who here is not paying interest on bank loans? Who here gets licenses, permits and pays fines? Well that's all perpetrating the death culture. As below so above. Not the other way around. Seeing the realm through clarity, can only occur when we see thing through both sides of our vision/eyes/mind. To find truth we must hear as many perspectives as possible. There is no way we can find truth when only one perspective thrives and others are held under.
Although there are different viewpoints and opinions about the motives behind the USA's military actions (no war has been declared), i.e., numerous reasons about Iran, even though they change daily, oil, Israel, China, Russia, petro dollars, military spending, Islamic fundamentalism, expansion of empire, etc.
I will put forward an idea for you to consider: With aggressors, war is always about power and control over one’s own people, and maintaining one's position, not who the enemy is. For example, Hitler’s ongoing invasions, however impractical. The other choice, ironically, is that of Stalin, who would have to turn internally to keep control by murdering his own people.
I would say in the USA, in almost every war undertaken or act of empire by those in power was an effort to destroy the Republic (internal opposition) and do away with the Constitution, which becomes pretty much accomplished by WWI by Woodrow Wilson. (See quote)

So, if the Republic and the Constitution are somewhat done away with, what reason would Trump go to Iran? Is he worried about the radical opposition in the Democratic Party? No, he needs their historical and ongoing criminality to keep his supporters happy with his so-called law and order. But within his own group, he needs to control, dole out patronage, or shut down the Warhawks and security state people, and the best way to do that is a war, and at the same time there are enough neo-cons and war mongers on the Democratic side to throw them on the pile.

Generally, politicians engage in war because they have standing armies at their disposal.

Charles-Louis de Secondat Montesquieu, baron de La Brede et de (1689-1755), was perhaps the most influential of the French political philosophers, who did more to alter the course of the world than anyone of his time.
And the American founders were influenced by his writings. Montesquieu believed that there should be a militia for defense, not standing armies, because Kings always used the military for their own pleasure.
Hence, one reason why the founders of America included the Second Amendment.
