I've read a lot of history, from ancient to modern day, and one thing stands starkly clear; men (usually not women) in power simply cannot resist he urge to go to war, either for other people's resources or a thirst for power and fame, or because of a grudge. There have been a few, very few, peaceful civilizations or empires, many in East Asia, but for the most part, when 2 countries or empires exist within striking distance of each other, one or the other will raise an army and attack.
