old news - France got hit with this low hanging fruit cyber attack that should have been a 'learned lesson' by all the rest of these companies that have forward facing cyber fragile devices. Same for US military bases that got hit. The cyber attacks are coming from the Orders of these guys who are announcing this problem, the elite military of every country. These are humanity's enemies using their A.I. to do the dirty work.
In my world I have found that the building automation systems that people ask for do little to save money. What they save in energy they spend in maintenance and replacement. Some examples:
Put in a Lennox zone control system for a plastic surgeon. 2 years later it malfunctioned. Lennox's answer was "we don't carry parts but we will sell you an entire new system". Luckily the HVAC tech dug into it, found the original main board maker who was only too pleased to sell a new board to the doc. A Walker Box zone control system that when the office wanted to expand were told that parts are no longer available however for 50 big ones well will redo your small system. The customer abandoned the system. I love the Dental Office which after 7 years had a failure in their zone control system and called me up. I went out and saw the problem. None of the HVAC techs who looked at it could figure out what to do with it because it was "Ancient" in their words. So I knew who did the original installation and gave their number to the customer. They called but the tech who was a superb profession refused to come out as he was not paid for the original installation.
I could go on and on about other failures in the automation control field however I think you have gotten my point. For those who have not, I will relate one more storey. I had a meeting scheduled and the developer called at the last moment to move the meeting to his house as he was babysitting that morning. Fine so off I went and when I got there he had 4 Cadillacs parked in his front yard. So I asked him "why do you have 4 Cadillacs in front" He said "well my wife's family has a lot of rich Jewish friends and they always buy Cadillacs. When the toys start to break down they don't want it anymore and go buy a New Cadiallac. They give the old ones to me."
